Lethargica
1917. In the French trench-lines of the Western Front, an American volunteer lives from letter to letter, as high explosive shells rain down and poison gas permeates the air. His wife's words are the only link to a world that is still clean and bright, a world unlike the one which surrounds him; mud, barbed wire, shell fragments and decaying men, some dead, some still alive. And then, one day, her letters stop coming.

The Monmouth Summer: A Novel of Love, Rebellion, and Courage (Women of Courage Book 3)
1685. King Charles II dies unexpectedly, and is succeeded by his brother James II, England's first Catholic monarch since Bloody Mary. English Protestants feel threatened, and King Charles's illegitimate son, the handsome young duke of Monmouth, rises against his uncle in armed rebellion. The rebellion turns young Ann Carter's world upside down. 18 years old, she is betrothed to Tom Goodchild, a Protestant shoemaker; but secretly loves Robert Pole, an officer in King James's army, who offers to take her to London as his mistress. Ann knows it is her duty to marry Tom, but does not love him; so when he marches away with the rebels, she imagines him being killed - which would set her free. But she knows such thoughts are wicked; her father is a rebel soldier too, like all the men of her village. So who should she pray for, when musket balls start to fly? What matters most - love or loyalty?

Hollywood Sinners
Karin Panotchitch, raised on a sheep farm and married off to a drunken loser, finds her way to 1939 Hollywood at the tender age of 16. Along the way to stardom, she meets up with Ramon Classic, who with his many brothers is ready for a hostile takeover of MGM, Mama Gravy, the colorful and opinionated proprietor of the run-down Gold Rush brothel, and Sister Agatha, the mysterious nun who seems to turn up every time Karin rides the trolley.

From the Cavalry to Czechoslovakia: Dale Albee: A 712th Tank Battalion Interview
Dale Albee enlisted in the horse cavalry in 1938. Three years later, as a sergeant, he helped turn a trainload of 500 raw recruits, some of whom only saw a horse in the front of a milk wagon as they stumbled home from a bar, into skilled horsemen who could roll a Bull Durham cigarette at a gallop, or at least could come close. A year later the 11th Cavalry was sent to Fort Benning and mechanized as part of the 10th Armored Division. In 1943, the independent 712th Tank Battalion was broken out of the 10th Armored. The 712th landed in Normandy three weeks after D-Day and spent the next 311 days fighting alongside the 90th Infantry Division through Northern France, the Battle of the Bulge, the Siegfried Line, and into Czechoslovakia, along the way earning a reputation as the armored fist of the 90th. Albee, in a "light" 17-ton M5 Stuart tank, was with the battalion all the way, starting out as a platoon sergeant and earning a battlefield commission, along with two Purple Hearts.

D-Day: World War 2: Famous Battles: D-Day and the Invasion of Normandy 1944 (World War 2, World War II, WW2, D-Day, Pearl Harbor, Omaha Beach, Utah Beach)
A simple yet comprehensive look at the planning events leading up to and following Operation Overlord.

The Suburban Cage (The Suburban Trilogy Book 1)
When beautiful college student, Rosemary Stanton bumps into handsome Police Constable Adam Kent, the physical attraction is mutual. Unfortunately, before they can meet again, she makes a fateful trip to a local nightclub and vanishes. Haunted by her disappearance, Adam along with his police colleagues make a valiant effort to track her down but without success. She is assumed dead though Adam secretly retains a hope that one day he will find her. The truth, however, is much more sinister because her life has not ended, it has been stolen. She had fallen under the eye of a silent stalker and brazenly taken, her youthful innocence destroyed. Rosemary is forced violently into her captor's world of debasement and depravity imprisoned just inches away behind the rose beds and twitching curtains of suburbia.

The Book Soul
When octogenarian librarian, Kerrigan Sheriwinkle, realises that death is an inevitable part of growing old, he begins to panic that he has no heir to inherit his beloved library. Lurking in the background is technological machismo, Mr Sparkles, who is desperate for the old man to die so that the library will come up for sale. His motives: he is building an empire and needs more storage space. Or so he claims. In truth his motives are much more sinister. To find his heir, Kerrigan enlists the help of bored housewife, Elsie Shufflebottom, handing her his most prized possession: the book of Providence. He implores Elsie to search its pages and find the only person who can take on the great responsibility of keeping the library safe. The only problem is the book is completely blank.

Two Rubber Souls
Living in the suburbs of Durham City in the north-east of England during the mid-1980s, life is difficult for 14 year old Pete Davies - feuding divorced parents, bullying at school, his crush on the enigmatic Frances Bailey-Jones, and the repercussions of an out-of-character moment of madness all take their toll. His only grains of solace are derived from living in his own insular dream world of pop music, computer games, snooker, and movies. With nowhere else to turn, Pete makes a desperate prayer for help to his idol John Lennon. This act doesn't go according to plan, but does bring guidance from a most unlikely, surreal source - a housewives' favourite, blonde haired American singer called Barry. A bitter-sweet portrayal of one boy's journey lost in the void between childhood and becoming an adult, charting his experiences as he attempts to make sense of himself, the world in which he is growing up, and his own place within it.

How Grim Was My Valley
A shockingly true account of a life lived in extraordinarily testing times in 1960s and 70s England. A working class village, emptied of its industry, provides the background to a thoughtful, upsetting and laugh-out-loud account of one boy's story. This outrageous journey of success and survival will leave you wanting more and full of faith by the indomitability of the human spirit.

Richard Burbage was the face the Elizabethans would have associated with Hamlet, among many, many others, as Shakespeare's leading star.

Shakespeare Studies: The Most Excellent and Lamentable Tragedy of Hotart and Melliflida
The foul papers of The Most Excellent and Lamentable Tragedy of Hotart and Melliflida were discovered on April 1, 2014. The Most Excellent and Lamentable Tragedy of Hotart and Melliflida had certainly been performed by 1597, when the first quarto was published. There are no surviving records for any performances before the Restoration in 1660, but it is likely that The Most Excellent and Lamentable Tragedy of Hotart and Melliflida was first acted by the Lord Chamberlain's Men at The Theatre and then at The Curtain. It has been suggested that Richard Burbage may have played Hotart, and the boy actor Robert Goffe may have played Melliflida. Sources: Arthur Brooke, The Tragicall Historye of Hotart and Melliflida, written first in Italian by Bandell (1562), Geoffrey Chaucer, `Hotart and Melliflida', in The Workes of Geoffrey Chaucer (1561), and Plutarch's Moralia, 'Superstition' (100 C.E.).

Blackfriar
A contemporary, neo-gothic murder mystery set in Edinburgh. Laced with black humour, it tells the atmospheric tale of Chrissie Dewar - a strong but embittered ex-Catholic police detective - who is struggling to find her missing sister, catch a serial killer and salvage her abandoned faith. As the spectre of a black-hooded killer looms large on the streets of Scotland's capital - and the legend of the Blackfriar ghost permeates the sinister subterranean vaults of the 'Old Town' - Chrissie embarks on a blood-soaked journey into the heart of darkness. What she discovers there will change her world forever.

AS IT SEEMS TO ME NOW
Very little of Don Taylor's work falls within any specific genre.
Essentially here is an intensely sexual love story in a middle-class suburbia wherein lurk various figures of dubious morals and intent. Simultaneously the main storyline is juxtaposed against the ongoing struggles of other individuals at levels materially less fortunate than the principal characters. A stir-fry of happenings, good and otherwise.

the three o'clock in the morning sessions
A poetry collection of works written over the span of almost fifteen years. This book also contains two short stories, "the door" and "brief love". All of the works deal with lost love or unrequited loves.

Sky Ray Lolly
A collection of satirical poems that made a big hit in 1986.

Five Classic Fairy Tales
5 classic fairy tales. The tribute here is to Hans Christian Andersen and three of his most popular stories, including the search for a genuine princess, an emperor who is foolish as well as ridiculous, and a duckling that discovers there's more than meets the eye in the real world. They are joined by a little girl who takes advantage of three bears, first put into print by Robert Southey in 1837, and the tale of a mysterious piper which has seen many variations, Robert Browning's in particular, on the events of June 26, 1284, when the children of a small hamlet suddenly disappeared.

Thursday's Child: An Epic Romance (revised edition)
Adele Jansen has (in the words of the old rhyme about birthdays) far to go. Gifted, ambitious, and determined, she takes one step off the career track to take an impromptu excursion with a man as fascinating as he is mysterious. Quite against her will, without completely understanding how or why, she finds herself drawn into an odyssey that will take her to the widest expanses of human existence, its heights and depths, its darkest mysteries, its brightest splendors--and transform both her and everyone around her. Her spellbinding story is told in terms that are vividly contemporary and strikingly realistic--yet at the same time, resonate with some of the oldest myths and legends of humankind.

Side B of the Novel
From Kitty Edwards comes a collection of eleven humorous short stories. The outrageousness of Ames meets the subtle witticisms of Chamfort and the absurdist stylings of Minkov in an upside-down, surreal hubbub of blatant offensiveness.

Dead-Ringer
Prophetic dreams and visions? Dire warnings of imminent Biblical apocalypse? A musician named Jesse Same, who reluctantly impersonates Elvis Presley for his living, resides in the same small town that was the birthplace of The Wonderful Wizard of Oz author L. Frank Baum. We all know that foolish flying monkeys were a part of the journey to the fictional Land of Oz, but could they also serve as legitimate real-life demonic apparitions? Jesse thinks so, as he sees them and things far more foreboding and relative to contemporary America, the world, the occult, secret societies, and the powers that be. Would anyone - including a local church pastor - even believe him, or would they consider him absurd? Jesse has grown weary of the Elvis gig and desires to do something new with his music career. Likewise, he desires to have more time with his young son and that means wrestling him away from his manipulative and controlling ex-wife and her hard-driving new husband. They don't subscribe to Jesse's strong faith in Jesus and are troubled that the young son has developed his father's passionate love for the Lord. How far would the ex and her husband go to keep the young son from Jesse? Would the young boy put himself into great danger in order to be with his dad? Would Jesse ever learn who his own father is? As this man who is a dead-ringer for the King of Rock-n-Roll dreams prophetic dreams, the supernatural creeps through the cracks in the walls that separate it from the natural realm as those who are bound to this world may soon witness the end of America and the world as they know it. Will the man's dreams and visions come to pass? Is there any hope for the nation and the individuals who appear in his dreams?

Soon, Jake and Steve are running for their lives, pursued by the police and a murderous drug-dealer who will stop at nothing to take them down. When Steve disappears mysteriously, Jake realises he's in even deeper trouble than he'd ever imagined. Accused of being a murderer himself, he has to uncover the truth and stop more deaths before it's too late.
