If you're swiping to turn pages it's relatively easy for the Touch to interpret it as an upward swipe if your swipe isn't perfectly perpendicular to the the side. If an ebook has chapter links an upward swipe will take you to the next chapter and a downward swipe will take you to the start of the chapter you're reading. Not all books have chapter links.

Even a tap can be misinterpreted by the device if there's an element of sideways movement of your finger.

@DP: I had started to look at my ancient Keyboard and wondered if I should give in to the inner child "want new shiny toy" whining in the background. Your comment has helped me by quashing such desires. Thank you ;)
My nice big page turn buttons now look user friendly and homely again. Best wishes, CW.

CW, I think the "Chapter Skip" has only happened to me a handful of times since I received the Touch back in April. Provided you tap the screen lightly and quickly I don't think it's a problem.

Many people are used to swiping on tablets and phones so do the same with the Touch but for turning pages tapping is much better in my opinion.

I thought I'd miss the page turn buttons but I used to hold my thumb on the KK button and quite often accidentally turn a page, especially if I was travelling on a bus, but with the Touch it never happens.

I think it's a matter of getting used to it.

I think I've only done that once (going ahead a chapter) - it's more common for me to tap too slowly and get two pages for one

Miss-tapping/swipping is not a major problem. I did it far more when I first got my touch, it rarely happens now. I've got a kk as well (and still use it a night as it has the lighted cover), but I prefer my touch, it's even more portable, as it is smaller and lighter and love the ease of using the dictionary...
