K. A. Newton says:
Decided to go out and vote after parcel delivered - checked Amazon tracker and found my parcel was on Middleton van at 6.51 am.

In all day waiting.

Answered door to 4 lots of people - a delivery from Rochdale and the Royal Mail and the ordinary Postman - and Jehovah's witnesses.

At 1845 pm approx my parcel arrived via Yodel and I signed for it.

Could not go out to polling station then as it was then too dark for me to go out with my problem walking and breathing.

I wrote this on a thread on here about not going to the Polling Station to spoil my ballot paper but decided to check actual time of delivery. This is what I found.

Date Time Location Event Details

15 Nov 2012 06:44:01 PM Customer UK Delivered
15 Nov 2012 11:00:01 AM Middleton Van UK Delivery attempted, card left with customer with carrier contact detail
15 Nov 2012 06:51:00 AM Middleton Van UK Out for delivery
14 Nov 2012 07:47:57 PM Prime Sort UK Arrival Scan

I had been in and out of my hall all day (no card seen anywhere.)

Took delivery in at 18.44 and signed it for it from 2 men who did not say they had tried to deliver earlier.

After I read what was on the Amazon Tracker Details I searched my hall in case the card had fallen behind something but nothing found.

Why did they lie, could it be because of the watchdog programme this week.

As long as the parcel had come Thursday or Friday morning I wasn't bothered.

When are Amazon going to learn about this company.

Kath I think you should put a written complaint in about this. Luckily you could wait about at home all day this time, but a lot can't due to work or other commitments, and it's time Yodels delivery men started earning the wages they are being paid instead of making up fairy stories.

Mick says:
It looks good on their time sheet that they tried to deliver, it then means they can spend some time in the pub or cafe and deliver later.

Paul says:
There was a much more justified and longer watchdog program on this company a while back. If a better company came out I am sure Amazon would go with them but from what I have heard/read they seem to be the best of a bad bunch. And by best I mean absolute rubbish.
The thing is, it seems to be the drivers of the vans who just cba with doing their jobs and yodel seems to turn a blind eye to it.

Nothing drives me more insane than delivery companies lying to you about trying to call and what not.

I had a guitar worth 1500 euros ordered in from the US.. perfect shipping all the way till it got to the UK and a company TNT driver decided that it wasn't worth the trip down the country with 1 item and threw it into a local music shop and claimed to have tried to deliver it >.<

K. A. Newton says:
I know I am retired but I still have to go out sometimes.

This is why I pay for PRIME it means the packages come on the days I know am going to be in that week.

I took the free month trying out Prime but forgot to cancel it at the end of the month so the £49 was taken from my account. I decided to keep it for a year and it really has been worth it just from March/April till now. Since I have not had a single item listed as Prime go missing and just one item arrived a day late that being delivered by the Royal Mail postman.

Over a year £49. is not much when you divide it by the number of items you buy. Of course not all things are covered by Prime.

The time I order is the vital thing. I can order late on Sunday evening (knowing it is definitely too late for Monday delivery) to receive on Tuesday.

In this case I ordered early on Wednesday morning for Thursday delivery as I knew I would be in on Thursday and Friday if it was delayed. Shame about the voting.

The free lending library is a nice perk. You can try out the writing of an author whose books are generally not low in price before paying out £4-99. a book by the same person. I don't mind paying £4-99 if I know I'm going to enjoy reading it.

M. Graham says:
Just had a similar issue. The liars at HDNL say they left a card after attempting delivery this week. No-one called at my house but the liars say they did. Why do Amazon persist in using these lying idiots? They must be really cheap. Simple remedy is to stop buying from Amazon. Perhaps they would do something about it then?

I've just had a delivery by Yodel and the box was all bashed and also the goods inside were ruined as well. The delivery driver was apologetic but it had obviously just been chucked around.

I think it depends hugely on the local folks - our local Yodel guy is brilliant, but the DPD people were completely crap.

I had a parcel delivered by Yodel and thrown over the fence. Spoke to Amazon who said they would investigate and phone me back. Still waiting over a month for a return call.

You missed a trick there, black. When they do that you sell it on ebay and tell Amazon your package never turned up!
Everyone wins except Yodel!

Sounds like it might've got lost in the system, might be an idea to send a follow up email.

They are rubbish. They tried to deliver to me at 9:30 this morning and stuck their card through. I called them back and they arrived in 40 minutes clutching package. This after i ordered it standard delivery 8pm last night from a company in Manchester.
40 blvvdy minutes I had to wait! How unreasonable is that!

(Yes, I am poking fun at you. I am a bit of a pessimist and am often pleasantly surprised by people. You guys seem to expect the moon on a stick with a strawberry on top. Good luck with that.)

They left my parcel outside in the rain yesterday. Not great leaving a cardboard box out in the rain especially as it contained a food hamper that I ordered for a present.
