Not at the moment. Sky are quite fussy about which devices can run their software.

Shame - will this be supported in the future?

Unfortunately not as I love this on my iphone. Unfortunately Sky are picky on devices that can use their software and if you check their website there is very few android devices that run it.

Sky Go is not supported on any Android tablet (Kindle OS is an Android derivative) but I've read on a techie website that they may very well release a version for the Google Nexus and/or Kindle as and when these devices reach a critical mass in terms of sales. It's really pretty poor considering what people pay in subs to Sky but it would seem they have a cosy little relationship with Apple so IOS has the focus in terms of development effort. The only Android devices supported are a select few Samsung and HTC phones. If like me you're a Sky subscriber and a Kindle Fire/Nexus owner p*ssed off with being treated as a second class citizen you should log on to the Sky help forum (http://helpforum.sky.com) to register your displeasure and demand that they sort it out. I've even heard of one or two people cancelling Sky but I think whilst understandable, that's a little extreme.

M. S. Amer says:
Not extreme at all, Virgin Media and BT have great packages. With the extra you pay to have Sky surely they should release their product on a wider range of devices rather than only Apple and a select few Androids. They aren't even compatible with the new Jelly Bean operating system!

I would cancel my Sky subscription immediately in protest. That'll teach 'em for not directing resources and cash to provide you with somethng for free. Or would that involve to, nose, cut, spite, off, face

Or get rid of all Andriod devices until they can sort their multiple brand mangled versions of the operating system out. Or would that involve to, nose, cut, spite, off, face

Or I'd buy an Apple or Samsung device if I thought it was important. They have one stable operating system that it's easy to write apps for. This would involve and, eat, cake, have, it.

Everyone's a winner.

The Fire was intended for US use and won't work in the UK.

Try looking on goodereader.com for apps..

I spoke to a sky tech support who claimed they anticipated providing support by Christmas. He the backtracked a little and gave the standard response.

KJ says:
I spoke to Sky Support today and they said they have Kindle Fire app 'in development'. When I pressed the point and asked when it would be available I was told they don't know. I honestly got the impression I was being told what the guy thought I wanted to hear rather than the truth. I have left very bad feedback on the website. If there was an alternative to Sky, apart from Freeview, where I live I would cancel my subscription today but unfortunately that's not currently an option. Money grabbers!

KJ, have you considered Freesat? If you're not aware of it, it's the free satellite service run by BBC and ITV. After you buy the "box" there's no further cost.

I bought a new kindle fire for Christmas can't seem to be able to get sky go is this something that can be fixed?

In reply to an earlier post on 26 Dec 2013 21:09:45 GMT
No. Sky Go isn't available. Petition Sky about it.

Posted on 27 Dec 2013 01:02:22 GMT
Sky obviously have some tie in with apple. They are blaming Amazon for Sky Go not being available on Kindle. Their excuses are pathetc.

In reply to an earlier post on 27 Dec 2013 07:18:07 GMT
Only paranoia sees connections and conspiracy where there is none.

Apps follow the money. People who save 150 buying a cheap tablet do not spend lots of money on extra media.

Why are you complaining that you are not getting something for free? You need to take a step back and listen to yourself.

If it really is that important, return your Fire and buy a tablet that does what you want it to rather than blame someone else.

Android has too many variations for some companies to make apps for. I have a Nook HD (Barnes and Nobles variation of the Kindle Fire) and that can't have Sky Go either.
