So recently got the kindle fire HD and it doesn't seem to want to show album art, the album art is displaying just fine on itunes and windows media player and so on but it just wont display on the kindle...

i really can not understand why, anyone else had/having this problem or know a way to fix it?

Denis Powell says:
I think it depends how the artwork is embedded in the file when it's created. Most of my music has been purchased from Amazon in the past and displays correctly but some doesn't, possibly because the file has become corrupted.

It doesn't bother me greatly however so I've not done any research into what the problem might be.

Thanks for the info about Mp3 tag. I'll have to look it up and give it a try. It could be very useful to me.

aye, i was using MP3tag to put the artwork on as allot of my music is missing the artwork, but no artwork is showing... its becoming rather annoying as even though i dont entirely mind it seems like such a simple thing that i just cant understand whats wrong...

Slightly O/T in regard to the original problem but just a personal observation.

When I used iTunes to convert some of my CD collection to put on my iPod I was surprised at how often iTunes failed to find any album artwork at all.

More recently I have been using Windows Media Player's ripping facility to convert my CDs to MP3 format for my android tablets and the difference was notable ... artwork found in just about every case and Media Player offered me a choice of artwork when it returned multiple versions for the same album (quite common with classic CDs). It seems Microsoft have a far better access to artwork than Apple does.

I think Apple just access it's own library whilst Microsft may be using Gracenote or a variety of sources.

In case not known information about your mp3 file is held in the tags section of the file (Title, Artist, Album and the like). iTunes does NOT write any subsequent changes you may make to the file. You either need an additional programme like Mp3Tag or buy something like Media Monkey which is money well spent on a proper media management programme that allows you to do whatever you want to your files.
iTunes is a truly awful management programme. Although perfect if you have multiple Apple devices to sync/play with.

Yeah, I know it's trivial, but it's also bugging the hell out of me that I can't get art work to move over with an mp3 file. Works on every other mobile device I've tried - iPod, iPad, Archos - but not the Kindle Fire. Contacted Amazon and the girl was friendly and tried to help, but ultimately, there was no solution and we agreed that I'd just need to live with it. Pretty poor show as it must be a pretty simple fix.

actually i contacted amazon too but i did get a fix, if you upload the songs to the cloud using the free 5gb that it comes with then just sync the library with the cloud it works, bit annoying but its atleast a work around.

give it a try.

Trying it now - thanks! Hopefully, when I take the songs out the cloud, the art will remain!

You can upload your music to the cloud where the artwork is added and then download it to your kindle. Or you can pay 63p for an app called "Album Cover Finder Pro", it does work and for the sake of 63p saves a lot of hassle.

I've been doing all sorts of testing to find a way to get my music to display correctly, and just when I thought I'd hit yet another brick wall, a solution "accidentally" presented itself. Now, every single album cover appears correctly on my Kindle Fire HD. Here's how I did it:

(this guide assumes that your music is all in .mp3 format, and you have the album artwork already embedded in each file)

Step 1 - In iTunes, mass-highlight every song you intend to put onto your Kindle, right click on one of them, and choose "Get Info". A warning message will ask if you are sure you want to edit multiple items - choose yes. On the "Info" tab, put a checkmark beside "Album Artist", but leave the "Album Artist" field blank. Click OK. This will remove any "Album Artist" information that may be tagged on any of your songs - this information is useless, and Kindle seems to have a problem processing it.

Step 2 - On your Kindle Fire HD, access the Kindle "Settings" menu, select Applications, select Music, and press "Clear Cache". Kindle has a habit of remembering album artwork, including "the no-artwork-found" artwork. Even if you've deleted songs from your Kindle in the past, Kindle will re-assign the same stored artwork to the songs if you transfer them to the Kindle again. It is important to clear the cache any time you remove songs, before you attempt to replace them.

Step 3 - Connect your Kindle Fire HD to your computer. On your computer, navigate your way to the Kindle's "Music" folder. Inside that folder, create a new folder - name it something simple, e.g. "My Music Files". Transfer your music collection into that folder - NOT directly into the Music folder itself. Use the same file structure employed by iTunes - i.e., artist folder\album folder\song files.

After the file transfer is complete, your song artwork should now display correctly on your Kindle. If you are filtering your music collection by Artist, you may notice some artwork appears to be missing - tapping into the artist and viewing the albums, then clicking the back button, usually fixes this.

I hope this has helped. The cloud music player option mentioned in this thread works too, but it takes a lot longer, and in many cases, Amazon's album artwork appears to an alternate version.

There is a good little free app that you can download called "Album Cover Finder". It works vey well. When it is running you select the option to go looking for the cover rather than the one.

Fab, you saved me loads of hassle for 63p, if only I could find a way for my pc too!

Album Cover Finder is ok but got one cover for all?? How do you get rid of them? Album Cover Finder is difficult for me to use, not user friendly at all. Can you help?

I seem to have a number of albums with the same/wrong artwork having just tried using album cover finder. Is there a way to replace cover art rather than filling in gaps in the collection.

Sounds like a very similar problem - have you found a solution yet?
