I can't be the only person who is frustrated by the limited selection of Apps available through Amazon.

I love my Kindle, but am getting to the stage of considering buying a Google (or Apple) device to access their far wider range of Apps.

Have others reached this stage? Does Amazon have any plans to replicate the range of Apps enjoyed by Apple and Google customers?

You're not limited to only those apps that are in the Amazon App Store. On my Fire I have, for instance, Google Maps, Google Earth, Google Chrome, and ITV player.

Just been reading the Huffington Post and they claim that most users now own about 30 apps and use only about 10 of them regularly. Mind you they are using this to forecast the collapse of the app finance bubble. like the .com bubble that - oh yes, that did collapse when everyone found out it was all a hype anyway.

Must admit the only apps that I use regularly are Overdrive/kobo reader for library books and weathereye for weather. There is a nice "zen meditation" bird tweeting one but that gets deleted by someone most mornings - not sure why.

no idea, but most of the compairison charts I've seen in the past put Amazon at about 10-20% of the number of apps in Google play and other eco-systems and then say Amazon is more curated than the others

I've found that if thee are apps I want, they will eventually show up on Amazon (I presume they're either under exclusive contract for a time to another app store or Amazon hasn't yet tested them) like Farm Rescue (recent arrival)
