lately i have been browsing various authors and have found that a lot of books that i would have bought because the synopsis looked good but then i looked at the price and the number of paqes and felt really miffed that a book was on offer for nearly £2 but only consisted of 16 pages so did not buy and i am also put off of buying that authors books as well

Well, I can only agree with you on that, Irene - and I only ever 'positive' vote so have a 'Yes' on me ;o>

Like everything else, I only buy what I consider to be value for money but people are free to ask whatever they like for something they own. It doesn't "miff" me if it's more than I want to pay. It will sometimes disappoint me but that's all.

If I go to the Theatre it costs me, on average, around £60 for, at most, 3 hours entertainment. That's £20 per hour or roughly 30p per minute. If a 16 page book was entertaining and took, say, 30 minutes to read at a total cost of £2 that's roughly 7p per minute. If I purchased 6 such books that gave gave me a total of 3 hours of entertainment that would equate to a total of £12, significantly less than the cost of a theatre visit. It's more to do with Value than Cost, for me.

Generally speaking I wouldn't pay more than, say, £1 for a 16 page book but if it's by an author I know writes wonderfully well then I'd certainly be happy to pay £2 if I wanted to read it.

Some short stories are extremely well written and can provide greater enjoyment than a 300 page novel. Like most things, size isn't a guarantee of quality.
