NoiseTrade are now offering free books from established authors.

go here:- http://books.noisetrade.com/

All you need to supply is an email address and a postcode.
Current authors on there offering freebies include Jeanette Winterson, Cory Doctorow, Will Self, Dana Stabenow.

I have used NoiseTrade for a while to get free music and have had no problems with them.
Feel free to google them if you have any worries or concerns.
It's basically an ongoing promotion where different authors put their stuff up on the site for download. Downloads are free, or you can leave a tip for the author, either what you think the book is worth, or what you can afford... or you can download the book for free.
You are then prompted for an email address and a postcode. You can utilise either your mail email, or a secondary one, and enter a valid postcode and your country.
An email is then sent to you, and included in that email is a download link for the book.
Books normally come in epub format, but all books are DRM free.

Once you download the book, you can then convert the book to mobi format which can then be read on your kindle.
A free conversion tool which many of us use is Calibre.
You can find it here

calibre-ebook.com

I have utilised calbire for a few years now to organise my ebook library and can heartily recommend it.

Again feel free to do your research and google calibre and NoiseTrade if you are worried!

I just wanted to let people know about free DRM books with nothing required other than a valid email address.

There is also www.netgalley.com which I've been using for a couple of months and find very good.
