Hello! I'm sorry if someone else has brought this up in another topic, but for some reason, I haven't been able to take a picture with the camera on my Kindle. I can access the app no problem, but when I bring it up and aim it to take a photo, nothing comes up but a totally black screen. Could someone please tell me if it's something I'm doing wrong, or if I just don't have the right type of Kindle?

I would really appreciate it!

Denis Powell says:
If you have the latest Fire HD, it doesn't have a camera.

If you have the previous generation HD, tap Photos on the Home page and then look for the Camera icon in the top right corner.

The Fire takes a picture of you, not of anyone else.

over the shoulder can work, but it's not ideal - I prefer to use my cell phone

Thank you so much for replies, everybody! :-)

@Denis- I believe I have the original HD; I got it last year, if that helps. I found the camera app where you said, although I don't know if that actually means it works ....

@Manxie- I tried pointing it at my face, then every other direction, but I see nothing on the screen but black no matter what I do. Maybe it's just something wrong with my Kindle, specifically?

If you see the Camera icon when you open Photos then you have the original HD. When you tap that the screen should change to show you what the Camera is seeing. It only works well in bright light.

If you're seeing nothing then it's possible that a Restart may cure it. If not I can only suggest you contact Customer Services.
