Best kindle touch case?

Well I finally gave into temptation and ordered a Kindle touch which will arrive tomorrow but am struggling to choose a case. The lack of elastic closure is putting me off the official Amazon one. What do people who have bought it and have now (presumably) carried around in their bags for a few days think of the protection it offers?

Which alternatives have people gone for?

Any thoughts as to which is the best case and why would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'm using this one: "Tuf-luv natural hemp case cover for Amazon kindle touch (book style)". It even has a loop for a stylus.

I have a K4, but I think the cases are interchangeable? I have a Duragadget portrait red leather case/stand for mine.

The kindle touch is a little bit bigger than the k4, so my kindle touch doesn't fit in the k4's case.

Oh, shame. If you google Duragadget, have they launched an equivalent for Touch? they are an Ebay shop, so searching on there might help you? When I bought my K4 I resolved to take my time choosing, and I was glad I did. I used my Kindle in carpeted areas only until I had a feel for what I wanted - protection, style, orientation, colour etc. Choosing at that point was easy. Good luck.

A.B., I often find myself reading in dimly lit places so have the lighted cover and wouldn't be without it. I've had my K4 in one since October of last year and have been taking that everywhere with me without any problem at all. The lack of any closing mechanism hasn't caused any problem for me. That's not to say it won't be an issue for someone else but for me the benefits far outweigh any risk factors.

I went shopping yesterday and by the time I was back on the bus the Kindle was buried under a variety of groceries, as it often is, with no damage whatsoever. The covers will scuff however, but then so did the TufLuf case of my K3 which also went everywhere with me.

I've got an M Edge Trip Jacket.

M-edge Trip Jacket for Kindle 4 / Kindle Touch / Kobo Touch - Purple/Teal

I have one of these for my KK as well, and they're really lightweight.

Denis Powell says:
Yes, the weight is an issue. I used a TuffLuv case on my K3 and that weighed very much less than the current lighted case. When the summer comes I may well get something like that for the Touch as the light will be less important.

I'm waiting for this case to arrive

Tuff-Luv Apocalypse Series case cover & stand for ( Amazon Kindle Touch / Sony PRS-T1 / Pocketbook 611 / 622 Touch - 'Guardian' Black

I've got this case already and it's quite good

Black and blue polka dot Amazon Kindle Touch cover / case

I did have the MEdge Lattitude case for my K4, the Touch fits in it fine

MEdge do some good covers as well. They have their own web site so take a look there first, then look for the case you like on Amazon, eBay or in the shops

I bought the official Amazon Lighted case in saddle tan for my Touch. It's fantastic!

I have the Saddle Tan case too but I have one negative thing to say about it. It's so smooth and polished that it can slip from the hand quite easily but, even so, I still think it's excellent.

Thanks for the replies so far. They have been very helpful. If I decide I'm not bothered about the light, I think I'll go for this one: Tuff-Luv Faux Leather 'Embrace' case cover Compatible with ( Amazon Kindle Touch / PRS-T1 / Pocketbook 611 & Touch 622 / Bookeen Cybook Odyssey) e-reader - Autumn Brown. If I decide I really want a light then I'll probably go for the amazon lighted leather case as I've never managed to find a detachable light that is actually any good!

Tesco do a nice leather case with closing tag for £14.97.

Denis, can you confirm something for me please. I found the images of the official case you have a bit confusing.

1.) Is it leather back and front, or is the back simply the exposed retaining shell?

2.) Also I'm wondering how much 'sprung length' there is in the two electrical contacts which mate with the contacts on the back of the Kindle. My reason for asking this is that I have a decalgirl skin on order for my Touch, and whilst these are very thin, I am concerned that even a that little extra thickness might be enough to prevent the Kindle sitting right down in the holder and mating properly with the contacts.

As I'm only 17 I thought spending £50 on a Kindle case after spending £88 (Through ebay in December 2011) on a Kindle was a little extravagant. Although the lighted cover would have been great, I really couldn't justify spending more then half the price of the Kindle itself for a cover although I know that a lot of people do. Anyway, I did find a really cute synthetic leather case with stitching in purple from Tecknet which has a magnetic clasp. Although it adds a fair bit to the weights it's still small enough to carry around. Highly reccomend one. I'm still searching for the perfect case for my touch, this one has a recharchable light which makes it interesting- do any of you have it? At 17.99 its a lot cheaper than the official lighted case, and looks sturdier...

I just got the red version of that one - arrived half an hour ago.

What do you think of it?

It looks nice, and seems to fit the Kindle well. Haven't had a chance to try it out yet, as reading a Kindle at work is frowned on for some reason...

How very unreasonable! Can you post back on this thread when you've had a chance use the light?

In reply to an earlier post on 18 May 2012 10:38:32 BDT
I'll try and find a dark cupboard somewhere. Or maybe wait until bedtime...
