I've the original kindle and would like to buy the new one, however, need to know if it is possible to tranfer books from one kindle to another?

If I recall correctly, you just download the books from your archive once you're registered your new Kindle....

Easy - the books are all stored in the Amazon cloud. You don't even need to "transfer" from one K to another. Simply download onto the new one.

You can even keep copies of the books on several devices, so long as they're all registered to the same account.

Kaz is correct. Most Amazon Book downloads are "keyed" to individual devices. They won't work on any other. This is how Amazon controls the number of copies you can have at any one time.

The biggest issue for most people buying a second Kindle is that you can only download one book at a time. Remember that if you download large numbers the indexing might drain the battery quite quickly.

If you have Collections set up on your original Kindle you can import them to the new device and any books you've previously downloaded to it will automatically be listed in the correct collections. Any books downloaded after that will have to be placed into the collections manually.

Thanks for your reply. What if I want to give my old kindle to my daughter, can she open an account in her name. Sorry to be such a pain but I'm new to all this.

She can, but will have to have a credit card registered to it. You old de-registered Kindle can then be registered to it.

Once you have downloaded all the books you want, go to Archive on your Kindle and you will see an "Add Other Device Collections" option.

To clear content from the Kindle:
Home > Menu > Settings > Menu > Reset to Factory Defaults

To deregister:
Home > Menu > Settings > Registration - derigester
