I have a keyboard kindle and recently got a Fire HD for Christmas, on my old kindle I could create collections to seperate books I had read and ones I hadn't. Is there any way of doing thins on the fire HD in the library? I don't really like having to trawl through the entire collectionto find a book that I haven't read.

Denis Powell says:
No "Collections" on the Fire, but there are apps in the App Store that will do what you want.

Thanks for your help. Do you have the names of any such apps?

If youv'e still got your Kindle Keyboard I would keep it as the Fire is hard to read on in bright sunlight.

I am using mine just to keep 50 or so books on. I can always delete and download different ones to it from my Manage my Kindle page.

All the covers appear on the carousel whether the book is on there or not.

I use an app called Book Collections.

There's one drawback in as much as if you open a book from within the app the Fire won't remember the last page read. The app makes it easy to find a book when you're unsure of the title but once found or decided upon it's best to open it from the Books Tab.

I don't think anything will make it readable in sunlight, unknown.

No. Absolutely not, whatever any advertising blurb may say.

Wouldn't recommend kindle fire to anyone. Not being able to read it anywhere except in bed Isis a big drawback

You can read it outside in dull light. You can read on it in the house provided the sunlight doesn't come in through the window directly on to its screen or you don't have a central light or reading lamp that shines direct on to the screen.

Its great for everything else though.

Buying an item and understanding what it does is usually advised. It isn't an eReader, it is a tablet computer and as such has all of the characteristics of one. It does not say you can read books in sunlight on any of the advertisements for it.
