Specially if they've had a Kindle Fire given them for their birthday. (Keeps them out of mischief).

I think it might mean you get instant access to the sellers website and goods.
Send me the full description of the goods and I will check it out further.

Amazon has for £4.99 - no streaming to an Internet device - I was told - for £5.99 I can get from Netflix such as Amazon will be more expensive as far as I can see - I am open to correction / advice unless there are typpos - what you see is what you get - and I have been on the "oil"

I must say lovefilm is getting quite good. I use it on my ipad but they are getting some good shows on there. They just announced that they are bringing dexter, the good wife and some of the Star Trek series to love film in the UK. It makes the kindle fire as a secondary device seem more attractive.

I agree that Lovefilm is getting better, when I first started they only had the first series of so many shows, I'm now working through the next four series of Andromeda they recently put up and I too whooped for joy at the news of Star Trek

Will I be able to download my daily newspaper to read while I am away in Spain? I have a subscription existing for the Telegraph.

If you can download it now with no problems, yes.

The camera is about 0.8 or maybe 1 mega pixel.

Yes. Tablets - which is what the Kindle Fire is - have the ability to access the internet - they wouldn't be much use without that ability. The Fire is for sale from the UK site and works in the UK. There seems to be something more behind your question - can you explain?

Posted on 16 Jul 2013 14:18:00 BDT
ChrisJ says:
YES: But ONLY if you connect via WiFi to a WiFi hotspot.

That WiFi hotspot can be delivered in a number of different ways:
- Your own home WiFi.
- Free WiFi from a pub or coffee shop.
- A MiFi device that uses a 3G SIM to connect to the Inernet and provides a mobile hotspot.
- A company WiFi (ALTHOUGH this may not work, depending on the security the company has put in place).

Please can you tell me what a MIFI DEVICE is as my disappointment is the Kindle has no 3G

In reply to an earlier post on 16 Jul 2013 14:31:32 BDT
Damaskcat says:
A device into which you can put a sim card which accesses the internet via the mobile phone network - it creates a Wi-Fi hotspot to which you can connect other Wi-Fi devices.

Where would I get the device from and will I be able to insert it in the Kindle Fire.....
Sorry if I appear a thicko.......where technology is I am a thicko

In reply to an earlier post on 16 Jul 2013 14:39:27 BDT
Damaskcat says:
No you won't be able to insert it in the Fire. It is separate from it and the Fire would connect via Wi-Fi. Mi-fi devices are available from all sorts of places including Amazon.

Something like this: Huawei E5331 High Speed 3G 21.1Mbps Mi-Fi Unlocked Modem
Into which you plug your own SIM card. Or you can buy one from Orange or 3 or similar on a contract.

I was thinking about when I am not near a hot spot and wondered how I could connect ( as in 3g like a fone )

Damaskcat says:
You won't be able to connect to the internet unless you're within range of a hot spot or your own home Wi-Fi. The Fire does not connect via the mobile phone network - except through a mi-fi device.

ChrisJ says:
IF you have a modern SmartPhone, THEN you can probably use that to create a WiFi hotspot that you can connect to. There is no NEED to buy a MiFi device, although they can be very useful.
Issues with using a SmartPhone: You use the battery, and then the phone doesn't work. It can get very expensive. And (for my circumstances) you can leave the MiFi on a window ledge with good reception while you sit at the opposite end of a room... I wouldn't want to leave my phone unattended that far away from me.
