Message remains the same - The Kindle fails and people don't know how to restart it. AMAZON TAKE NOTE.

James, Amazon explain what to do in the User Guide on the Kindle itself, in the User Guide available to view here or in Kindle for PC, and in several sections in "Help" which you reach by clicking on Help at the top of this page. I can't think of anything else they could do. I think it would be pointless them printing the Guide as some won't read it and won't be able to find it when needed.

Took me an age to find the user guide and get to the bit I needed. It's like all things, once you know its there it's obvious but until then you struggle. As we are on the subject - Here it is.

Kindle's are temperamental, subject to bouts of insane stubbornness.. Even the cold will lock them up. Should have DON'T PANIC on the cover LOL

Which Kindle are you talking about?

Have you held the button slid to the right for at least 15 seconds. Then leave it for 2 minutes to see if it re-boots?

Have you held the slider to the right for 20 seconds then released it to reboot the Kindle?

Thank you for your advice. I thought my kindle had died, I've had the first one replaced because of this, there was just a black screen. It was fully charged but would not switch on. I followed your guidance, but had to hold the on button down for nearly a minute before it responded but am now up and running again.

This happened to mine, thank you for the information, I was so relieved!!!!!!!. I got mine for Christmas and it worried me I had broken it, does anyone else have issue with the unresponsive screen. I find it is a bit hard to play some games, which defeats the point of a touch screen. My I phone seems more responsive, especially on games like temple run, which is very frustrating.

Hi I have a 3rd Generation Kindle ,The one with the keyboard on the bottom and assume this is the 3rd Gen wi-fi model... which I use for hols and trips etc. I tried to charge it but the battery symbol didnt display a charge even though I had a light at the bottom, nothing ive tried did any good. I have purchased a new battery and it came with half charge and the Kindle has re-booted and installed latest updates but it still wont charge.
I have loaned a charger from a friend and tried that and it still wont charge. I have been told that Amazon can reactivate it from there end if I ring the help line, I must be thick because I cant locate the number to ring, I just keep getting routed back to the same old help pages.
Anyone any Ideas ???????????????????????????

It really would be easier for you to go through the 'contact us' process and tell them what the problem is but you can ring the above number which is specifically for Kindle queries.

My kindle is fully charged but the screen is stuck on the recharge battery screen. I have a push in on button not a slide button - how do I reset ?

In reply to an earlier post on 28 Jun 2014 11:13:29 BDT
Damaskcat says:
By pushing the button in for twenty seconds.
