Why not buy one in a shop?

Denis Powell says:
Gav, did you charge it before use and have you tried a restart? Hold the power switch in for 20 seconds and release. Then leave it alone for a while. Eventually your Home page should appear and show any books that you have.

Willber G says:
If you agree a replacement, you should get it the next day before you send the old one back.

Gav says:
thanks Denis. Yes, i've tried all the solutions noted on here and other forums. Some of the reviews report mechanical problems with the touch so I guess im just one of the unlucky ones. Ive got an older keyboard type which is excellent but I got this for my wife to take on hols. Going to return it and perhaps buy one in shop instead.

Well I have problems with my 3g keyboard version but only in the winter cold and weather. Soon as the weather gets good - no more start problems - Kind of makes you think....

Hippocratia says:
Kindles don't like it too hot or too cold - they get sluggish like the rest of us.

Mr. D. Evans says:
Had a problem with my 3rd generation kindle for months, it was over 18 months old and it won't turn on (no green light). Several times it would reset, but then it seemed I wasn't getting much battery life out of it. It would charge (amber light) but I never got a green fully charge light. Eventually, no matter how hard I tired to reset my kindle nothing happened. It was either get a new kindle or change the battery. I changed the battery, very simple to do and you can get new battery's for about £17. Battery arrived today, connected new battery (green light) straight away. It seems to be working fine, see what happens over the next few months...........

More info on how to acquire and details on how to change the battery would be great. The time will come when some will need to do this..... Thanks .

Ha! Ha! Are we gonna throw a birthday party for it then? Why doesn't Amazon get rid of these old threads? They must have longer records than MI5!

In reply to an earlier post on 14 Jun 2012 17:15:15 BDT
But people are still having the problem so this is vital information - Leave it be!! :)

Denis Powell says:
Lynn, it's still within Warranty so if you contact Customer Services (Click on Help at the top of this page) and they'll send you a new one if it won't restart. If you ask them to telephone you they usually ring back within a minute or so.
