"use it" - yes.
Properly use it to access the features you use in the USA, No.
No access to the store (except thru the browser) for films, downloads, books, music etc.

Thankyou again DC! Your link above looks like 'the one'. Overspent a bit in April so I may have to wait until May but, if it doesn't sell out while a wait, the NATPC M009S RTB ULTIMATE 7" 16GB Capacitive Android tablet PC - Android 4.0 ICS (Ice Cream Sandwich)- now with DOUBLE storage (16GB) and DOUBLE system ram (1GB) for ULTIMATE PERFORMANCE - WiFi - Compatible with BBC iPlayer
doesn't look like it could be beaten. If I buy it I'll let you know.

DC says:
I have just got one of these and neat little devices they are too. Not had it long enough to do a decent review, but so far I am a happy bunny. It isn't an iPad and it isn't a Galaxy, but it is a fraction of the price.

If you are planning to wait a few weeks, I would check the market again. Things change very rapidly in the Android tablet arena.

Susan D says:
Have you any problems using it in the uk? Can you link it to your amazon.co.uk account to get kindle books etc?

ChrisJ says:
RE:>>get kindle books
The Fire has a web browser. You can use that, or any other web browser, to access Amazon.co.uk. From there, you can buy books and send them to a Kindle device on your account. What you cant do is to use the "Store" buttons to go to Amazon.

RE:>>get ... etc
The definition of etc (anything other than books?) is too wide to answer here. But the generic answer is the same - the web browser is there, but any dedicated download of films, audio, video etc wont work.
Also worth checking: Does the Fire have Flash support? If not, how well does it work with YouTube and the BBC web-sites?

CBRetriever says:
I'm presuming it has flash support given the number of "I can't download the latest flash" and the responses of "The last update turned off Flash, you'll have to enéble it and here's how to..." responses

Y'all are just gonna love all the people having problems with the Fire that come out of the woodwork when it arrives in the UK (sarcastic tone).

Its gone DC!! I went to buy it and Wendy Lou has sold out. I can't believe I missed it! If it comes back I will definately grab it. I should have taken your advice straight away and blow the expense!!!

DC says:
More arriving soon apparently (next week or so). Wendy Lou says they have been flying off the shelves.

Mrs. R. Holt says:
I tried the link Wilber G and it just comes up with an Ankaka page saying 'Page not found'. Anyway, if Wendy Lou is going to have some more I will wait. I sent her a question asking if she will have some more and she didn't reply she did reply however to a question asking if one of her other machines could have ICS put on it. I looked closer at it though and it only had 1/2gb memory and the expansion slot was TF which could be awkward. Anyway, I really fancied DC's choice and should have followed my instincts and bought it regardless of cash flow.

Willber G says:
The link seems to have been chopped, if you copy and paste it into your address bar it should work. It gets excellent reviews.

Mim says:
How is this possible? Did you buy it from America? Does it work ok in the UK?

Posted on 4 May 2012 10:14:44 BDT
Mrs. R. Holt says:
Thanks Wilber G it worked! A few problems, besides the fact that it comes from the US. Although it does have 1gb of RAM, its only an 8gb HDD and the memory card is TF instead of SD which was the problem with the last one that I asked Wendy Lou about. I am however waiting with baited breath to see Snoop's answer to Mim's question.

I bought it from a website in the Uk. It works fine. I can not access the US services as others on here have said but I have purchased books from amazon Uk, I have access to the internet and can get lots of free apps from getjar.com.

Tika MacPhee says:
Hi - apologies for anyone who has asked...if I bought the Kindle Fire from a UK seller, who is also selling the Amazon warranty...will it work in UK? Thank you in advance

In reply to an earlier post on 6 May 2012 16:14:17 BDT
Damaskcat says:
It won't work properly in the UK and I would question how much protection you would get from the warranty as the Fire is not meant to be sold outside the US.

Tika MacPhee says:
Hi thanks for your reply....it specifically says its Amazon warranty, bought I would be wary as I know Amazon aren't selling in UK yet. Will keep at it with my Kindle 4 for now, and await proper release :)

In reply to an earlier post on 6 May 2012 16:30:37 BDT
Willber G says:
I think that would be sensible.
