Thanks everyone for your kind messages - son, his wife and Master Oliver say thank you too!
(For those of us who are mothers out there - she had a Caesarean on Tuesday afternoon and was sent home this morning (Thursday) - amazing!)

It is amazing how quickly they let you leave hospital these days. I think that is too early for a section though.

Thankful Thursday... and today - or rather, this week, I'm thankful for:

The pond, for getting fish in it last weekend (hope they're all OK, put 5 in but generally only see a couple at the same time).
The pond again and the sighting yesterday of a rare species of frog! Yes, really... all this time I've been watching for crested newts and the protected species pool frog was probably there all the time :).
For various flowers coming into flower - several for the first time since I planted them, and for wonderful smell new blossom opening on the citrus tree - must give it tomato food more often.
For Andy Murray winning Wimbledon - must have done more for morale in this country than all the royal weddings and births and jubilees AND he's previously donated winnings to charity - yes I know he's rich but it's still a lovely gesture.
For music, even tho I've hardly played this week, what with all the tennis and gardening.
For my lovely new garden bench, which is great to sit and play music while looking at wildlife in the pond - even tho I haven't actually finished putting it together yet.
For summer!

It's a very tiny garden (about 15 x 25 ft) and got very neglected during years of constant rain and abusive neighbours. Now I have lovely new neighbours and have been gardening almost non-stop for the past couple of months trying to get it like a garden again. The camomile plants should have arrived today but didn't (Royal Mail fail) but a teeny lawn bed is prepared for them.

Just realised it's thankful Thursday again.
Today/this week, I'm thankful:
That we've had summer weather - even tho it's been too hot for many of us much of the time.
That we've since had rain - poignant as downpours have not been welcomed or appreciated for a long time!
For my new waterlilies - a lovely gift from friends, partly as a thank you for continuing to teach their child for free during the months when they had no income.
And thankful they now have a new job and home to go to - even tho it's a long way away.
For my garden, small but beautiful, and my ability to photograph it so you don't see the messy bits . Particularly thankful for all the wildlife in it - fish, frogs, toads, newts and even a grass snake in the pond. And for visiting birds, bees and butterflies. And for my lemon tree with its gorgeous scented flowers.
For the cool weather after the heat.
For musician friends.
For good health - because even tho I have work-limiting problems of anxiety etc, that's far preferable to the nasty progressive diseases too many of my friends or their families have.
For my cats.
And for good neighbours.

For cooler weather so I could do the whole of the regular Thursday walk with my friends, instead of having to turn back halfway, like I did last week...

Oh yes... the coolness is so wonderful - even tho it's still a heatwave :). I went out and did some errands today rather than hiding from the sun. And the countryside def needed the rain.

Thankful Thursday again! Today and this week I'm thankful for:
Weather that's warm but not ridiculously hot.
A great concert in Minehead last Saturday, and the fact I got to join in, even if it was just one song (love being part of things). And going to King Kong the musical the day before.
Music to get on with indoors when it's rainy outside.
The Crow Road repeated on TV (finished now) one of my favourite books and a fantastic dramatisation of it.
The fact Cropredy festival starts a week today (don't get any ideas, burglars, there will be house sitters and some of them bite).
Playing with my fish yesterday - when I say playing, all four were up near the surface for a while and I attempted to take pics of them. Think they may have been hungry or just enjoying the sun.
Sweet peas coming into flower (despite being from old seeds planted late). Also in the garden, a buddleia covered in butterflies.
Purring cats.

It seems to be Thankful Thursday:
For a lovely week of good weather, trip to the beach and climbing down the cliff path from Beer Head for the first time in years, a hummingbird hawk moth in the garden (and getting a pic of it), 3 happy cats, like-minded friends to play music with, a great music evening in the village last night, fresh sungold tomatoes from the garden, beginning to get the house together, plans for a friend to visit, and an inkling of wanting to write more novels.

Scarlet Lady my 6 month old grandson is obsessed with Robin Thicke. He turns his head to watch or listen whenever my son has his music on lol.
I am thankful that I only have 3 working days this week
.... Saw said grandson and his parents this last weekend
.... It has stopped raining (I am due back on the office in about 5 mins)
.... I work with some lovely people
.... Spaghetti bolognese for tea tonight
.... Maybe a bottle of wine too (shared with OH of course)

Thankful Thursday:

Sad news today that makes it difficult to feel thankful...
nonetheless, I am thankful to be healthy. Not as healthy as I would like, maybe. Not healthy enough to fully earn a living. But healthy enough to live - which compared with too many of my friends or people close to them, makes me very lucky indeed.

On a lighter note, I'm thankful for my new rug (which is still wrapped in plastic in the hall and surprisingly heavy such that I hope there isn't a murder victim wrapped inside).
I'm thankful for gradually getting my house and garden together, even if it's taking a long time.
Thankful for my cats and my fish and all the wildlife.
For all the plants in the garden, for a good continuing harvest of tomatoes and for grapes ripening on the vine. No peaches this year but a few apples if I can catch them before the slugs do.
