I dont think any of us are finding it hard to cope with the real world, Elizabeth made the post as a bit of fun and some took it the wrong way. Taking life to seriously is probably the biggest killer there is.

But this thread is more about peoples behaviour and attitudes than technology.

Not sure what you mean, a jaundiced view of things? and what is positive about calling someones post banal without an explanation why, huh

It's as clear as daylight that people under 60 are a waste of space - apart from paying for our pensions, of course! - and we oldies are the salt of the earth! Nobody under 60 should be allowed to do anything - vote, drive, drink, post on here or anywhere else, you name it. They should be kept in their place- Old Is Best, so there!! :0))

Well, some people on here seem to conclude that life is not as good as it was, children are lazy, etc. based on newspaper headlines and tittle tattle.

"and what is positive about calling someones post banal without an explanation why, huh"

Fair point, but I did expand my views in subsequent posts. Have you read the whole thread?

Willber G - it's all part of the rich tapestry of Forum 'virtual life' - your contribs are usually in that spirit as are most others. Once anyone starts taking it this seriously or starts taking offence then they should leave for a spell.

Wilber i dont want to turn this thread into an argument, as far as SOME young people are concerned life WAS better they were better educated because the teachers had authority and they knuckled down because of it, parents had authority and children were brought up with manners. It was unheard of for a parent to go screaming down the school because little Johnny got detention, normally little Johnny would have got a clip round the ear for getting the dention. SOME kids think they are owed a living and are anti authority because that is how they have been brought up they can behave as badly as the please because there is no one going to risk telling them they can't.

Yes I did read your subsequent posts and I have read the whole thread and you are entitled to your views and opinions, the same as the rest of us.

Of course you can cite individual examples, and I could counter with my own, but that is unlikely to get us anywhere (and life, good though it is, is too short for that). And I did point out that kids' behaviour, and the environment in which they have to grow up, is the responsibility of previous generations - it's /our/ world they are dealing with, just as we had to do with the post-war legacy.
