I am planning to buy one of these. I have a lot of PDF and DOC files on my google account. Can I sync these on the Kindle over the air. Or can I download these files through a USB cable. They are a lot to be emailed and some are large size and can't be even emailed.
Please anyone have experince in such thing, let me knowKindle Touch, Wi-Fi, 6" E Ink Touch Screen Display

Denis Powell says:
Mrs. Nagro, if the files are too big to email then they can be transferred to the Kindle using the USB cable. You can't vary the font size of PDF files on the Kindle as you can with ebooks but you can zoom. Unfortunately this may mean that the edges of the document disapear past the edges of the screen. You can, however, view them in landsape format which may help.

If the documents are text only and don't have tables or illustrations you may find it useful to convert them to .mobi format using a free programme calles "Calibre". Then you'll be able to vary the font size.

You can only do the above the files aren't DRM protected.

Note the Touch does not come with a mains charger, only a USB cable, so if you already have the plug which came with the old keyboard model, this can be used to plug into a wall socket.

I love the idea of the Kindle. The problem is - I share books with my pal in Scotland by passing them on. Or I give them to Charity Shops to sell on. You can't do either of THOSE with a Kindle!

Denis Powell says:
Rosie, you're right, but if you have two or more Kindles or apps registered to the same account then more than one person can read the same ebook at the same time.

Paper books don't let you adjust the font size, you can't carry very many around with you,, and you can't buy one from your bed a 6 in the morning and be reading it in less than a minute. It's very rare to see free paper books other than from a Public Library,.

It's "roundabouts and swings". Like most things that come in different varieties you buy what suits you best.

The Fire in America isn't 3G so it probably won't be here either.

Hi DCat,

Hmmmm I thought it was 3G. I am interested in getting a Fire because it looks quite versatile. But maybe I will just stick with my old 3G Kindle and get an Ipad or a notebook.

I took my Kindle to Jamaica on holiday and it was brilliant. It seems that the american tourists had more of the touch version. Many did not even have covers to protect them. Some left them out in the sun all day at 30 plus degrees Celsius. I logged onto the Amazon network via the free wireless at the hotel and bought a couple of books. I am very pleased and love my Kindle. <3

I'm posting this on my new Touch (birthday present) just as an experiment really. At the moment I'm finding it great for reading but very frustrating as a browser. I expect I'll get used to it.
Edit You can't access the internet in landscape. Or is there a way of doing this?

Posted on 16 May 2012 09:19:06 BDT
CBRetriever says:
no, it won't do the internet in Landscape mode

Thanks. I'll stick to my old Keyboard web browser I think (although it's a little slower). The Touch is great for reading in bed though once you've got the hang of the screen.

I'm having a Japanese blossom tree off me kids Bri. Its called blushing bride, want one to commemorate 2 of my kids weddings this summer. I like to plant a tree in honour of loved ones or great family occasions. Only have a smallish garden though, God help me if I have ten grand kids!

Brian says:
That's unusual , Honey - looks like you'll be in for quite an expensive summer then?

Posted on 16 May 2012 20:48:57 BDT
honeybunny says:
Not too bad expense wise, Bri, my kids are actually better off than me! I am thankful they've gone for the modern trend of paying for their own with just a little help from me. They haven't gone for full blown affairs either which helps keep costs down. Were not really a glitzy family, fun and simplicity is our style.
