Denis,
It doesn't show up in the list of apps when searching the store from my Kindle. Did you do it using your PC or something else?

Denis Powell says:
It shows in my Fire. Go to the Amazon App Store on your Fire, enter Audible in the Search box and it should be the first item that appears.

Denis,
As I mentioned in my last post, when I do exactly what you suggest it does NOT show up.

Then you need to contact Customer Services. It shows in the Amazon Appstore on my Fire and my Asus tablet. The only Fires that I know have problems are the 1st Generation purchased from the US.

I will like to purchase a kindle fire, but i understand the books are not audio, I am dyslexic, and it will take me a long time to read a book. I am also suprised with all the technology the kindle has: there is still no choice, to have the books read aloud. Also people may be tired and having to listen to books, is a good idea for all.

As I believe that you can down load the audible app for the kindle fire and then buy audible books to be read, hop this helps.

I have the Fire HD and that has Text to Speech for ebooks, female voice only. Can't say if the same is true for the Fire.

N. Howard says:
how do you use the text to speech feature.

In reply to an earlier post on 2 Jan 2013 07:48:04 GMT
Denis Powell says:
Open a book, tap centre of the screen, tap Aa in the toolbar that appears and turn on Text to Speech. Tap the centre of the screen to close the Aa options screen and then tap the centre of the book page and the bar that appears along the bottom will have a button on the far left hand side to start and pause the speech.

Denis Powell says:
The only Kindles available new from Amazon that have Text to Speech are the Fires. The Keyboard Kindle and the Kindle Touch which also have TTS appear to have been discontinued but you may be able to buy a Kindle Touch from Tesco.

To what device did you download it? If it's a Fire, have you installed the Audible app from the app store?

Don't forget that the post you're replying to is dated before the Audible App was available through the app store. The easiest way to manage Audible Audiobooks is now by using the App.

I just wanted to add, have just got a new Kindle Fire and I searched for the Audible app, it seems to be working fine now and I am downloading my books now.

Denis Powell says:
P. Caffrey, Audible books take up quite a lot of space so I only have one or two on the device at any one time and delete each one as soon as I've finished it.

P. Caffrey says:
Thanks, I only have a few Audible books because I found very few I wanted to listen to. I shall remember to delete each one when I have finished listening.

Can anyone help!
I need an idiots guide to my kindle fire.
I've loaded an 2 audible book I borrowed from the library on to my computer and I want to put it onto my kindle fire so I can listen to it whilst I'm on holiday!
I could do it on my old kindle but don't know where to start on this new kindle fire!
What do I do?
What do I need?
Where do I put it?
How do I get it to play so I can hear it?
Remember please keep it simple step by step as I'm very new at all this!
Thanks
Ian

Denis Powell says:
If they're in mp3 format you can put them in the Music folder and play them from there provided they have no DRM restrictions.

If your Computer requires special software or an app to play them then your library should know if an app is available for your Fire.

Margaret search for the Audible app, it didn't used to work, evidently, but it works fine now :-)

Denis Powell says:
P. Caffrey, I don't think the Audible app will play Library Audio books.
