I've been using oneclickdigital for some time now and I find it pretty good.I only read one book at a time though! Our Cheshire libraries are also doing e-books now.

It doesn't sound feeble to me. IMPO, a lot of things come down to little practicalities, sometimes lots of them. One of my sisters got her Kindle because she works long hours and found getting to the library only added to the list of chores she had to do at the weekend. Her flat is small with no obvious space for bookshelves and she's quite a neat person; she'd be unhappy living with stacks of books all over the place. Nor did she want to traipse books with her on her daily commute. The Kindle is so perfect for her, it could have been developed with her in mind, except of course, she's part of a large and growing demograph.

I'm close to town - your ten minute drive is my walk and it's a pleasant one. But I gave up trying to carry heavy library books a long time ago; if I can't hold them comfortably, I certainly can't traipse them from town. What sounds lame to one person isn't to someone else and reading is so important that people shouldn't have to negotiate barriers to enjoy it.

Yes, the weight of books is getting to be more of a problem for me and the parking, although free, is beset with all the restrictions that come with an old town centre not built for modern traffic so that the ten minute drive can stretch and still result in a long walk... Plus, we're at the bottom of a steep hill and the library is down the other side, so there's no escape from carrying heavy books uphill. They get you coming and going!
