I was just thankful that I had enough fuse wire left to fix the fuse, when the lights went out - must remember to buy some more tomorrow.

I was introduced to the "Pomelo" as a new fruit for the new year. Not sure if it will become a staple, but it's been a remarkable, refreshing and enjoyable treat.
I'm overjoyed that the 42 fences and 4 trees that were destroyed over the past few days resulted in zero injuries. There has been severe storm damage locally and so far we have all been very lucky.
I was warmed by seeing a happy photograph of The Pope. I don't understand or like much of what is done in the name of the Church, but that one picture made me feel hopeful. CW

Pomelos were around a few years back, Combat, so it's their second introduction here. I understand they're one of the parents of the grapefruit, which was hybridised from them. So watch out, anyone taking statins, this means you should avoid them.

@Ali: I had mused due to their size. Bum. I'd really enjoyed it. Back to oranges. Thank you :)

I only know this because a musician/food buff had posted on facebook about how much he enjoyed them - particularly as he couldn't eat grapefruit due to taking statins. Then he researched and found he shouldn't be eating them. I had no idea grapefruit were a problem in this way - tho I know they interact with anti-rejection drugs. Even for those of us who don't have such constraints, it's important to be aware when preparing food for others.

Thankful Thursday:
For free opportunities to learn with online courses.
For new/revisited musical pastures - this week, Pennymoor.
For pastures - or at least, modest vegetable gardens - I might be able to buy.
For a rainbow in the midst of the rain.
For excellent TV drama and factual progs.
For happy cats.
For the woodburner, and new-found cosiness.

Had forgotten about that. I'm also watching Witless Silence so will have record one or catch it online.

Finally able to write on here as a pretty dire three weeks with not much to be thankful for.....husband fell from the top of a stepladder and landed flat on his back - torn trapezius muscles in his back and whiplash at the base of his neck. Horrendous pain, constant painkillers, A&E, doctor etc etc etc (he's not a spring chicken any more!) All I kept thinking as I ran around doing EVERYTHING was it could have been so much worse - I could have been sitting at his bedside in hospital..... Finally he's starting to manage a bit more, though is still sleeping in a chair in the lounge as bed is too painful. But much better than when it happened and he will heal up. I may be exhausted but I'm very thankful!

Sorry about your hubby smudgeroonie.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Hope he's better soon. I hate ladders unless they're fixed at the top.

Princess and Ali - many thanks for your good wishes. He's been told so many times not to go up stepladders when he's on his own - but do men ever listen? And this is an ex-Health and Safety manager! We were lucky and he's learned his lesson!

Hehe!

I'm scared of anything automated. Eg I hate putting air in the car tyres as I'm terrified something will go wrong and they'll all end up flat.

But most of all I'm scared of those toilets that welcome you to the facility and warn you that your stay will be timed :).

Did you see the photograph taken from inside a toilet made of one way glass. There was a public one put in a street. I think it was New York.

You could sit on the throne and watch everyone walk by through all the sides of the cubicle while dealing with your reason for being there. No one could see in. Weird.

Also the bathroom where the floor was painted with a scene of the earth far below as if you were sat on the loo in a plane and there was a glass floor. It really looked as if you fell off the loo you would topple a long way down.

Thankful Thursday (which I forgot to do yesterday):
For excellent free online courses, and an opportunity to learn new things.
For music and songs and the best yet songwriter turnout last Sunday.
For cosy evenings in front of the woodburner.
For the opportunity to buy a bit of land (if I can learn how to negotiate the shady dealings of the sealed bid!).
For happy, healthy cats.
For the sound of owls at night.
For birdsong after the rain, and maybe the hint of spring.
