Donny Don says:
Why am I suddenly getting an Authentication Failure Notice when I try to log onto my Home Hub?

In reply to an earlier post on 29 May 2013 19:16:31 BDT
With what?
What hub?
What router?

Same here, with my kindle fire hd, on my hotmail email, authentication failed! I am still receiving messages through tiscali. Have had this problem before and took ages to sort with CS, but cant remember what corrected it we tried so many things. Router on then off, kindle off and on, re input of info to email account! Then lots of variations, it took hours. Wish I knew why stuff that was ok yesterday isn't today in the first place.

I would be interested to know if this is resolved as one of my neighbours is having this problem. She cannot connect her laptop to her home network, it is also asking for authentication and then it says failure. Her ISP is also Tiscali.

ChrisJ says:
New laptop? New router? changes at the ISP end? New security? New updates on the laptop? Which Operating system? Which protocol is being used (B+G or N)? which access system is being used (WPA, WPA2 etc.)?

TOO Many questions, options, possibilities for remote, remote, remote support! Get your neighbour to ring Tiscali, with the laptop in front of them ready to answer the questions.

Hope someone can help, please. Kindle fire hd, cannot get onto my hotmail email, keeps saying authentication failed, I have switched off fire, router too, not much faith in CS, as spoken to several previously and don't feel helped at all. It says password incorrect! I have tried 2 passwords it could possibly be and kindle won't accept either. Is it possible I could set up a new account with Hotmail and use a new password? Would this mean changing on laptop and pc and I pod? Feeing so fed up with this. Hope someone can help.

Your description gives us no clues as to WHERE the authentication error is.
A) you need to start the device. Does that have a password. Is that where the error is?
B) you need to connect to your WiFi system. Is that where the error is?
C) you have an email name. Are you trying to connect to your email address?
D) your email is used as an account for Amazon. That will have a password. Is that where the error is?

On my Fire, I could access my Hotmail emails through the email app. This stopped receiving messages last week. I also have Tiscali email and this is working fine. There is a message above previous Hotmail messages saying 'authentication failed'. If I try to input details again in the mail settings, it says password incorrect, but I cannot get any further as it also says this email address is in use. Wi fi connection is good, laptop and pc still connected to Hotmail. I haven't changed password and don't know why that account stopped working. Tried Amazon help in the past, was frustrating and took ages, so hoping for some help here please.

Make sure there is no space at the end of your password for Hotmail.

No space?

Dexter says:
Shey, make sure you haven't hit the space bar when typing in your password, and also check you are not on Caps lock...

This same thing happened to me. I can get email on my computer but suddenly, not my Kindle. I did recently change my password, but it was some time before this happened. I am changing locations, but the kindle will connect to the internet, but just not my hotmail. I can't find anyplace to check my settings...It just takes me to the hotmail page with old messages.

In reply to an earlier post on 10 Nov 2013 11:07:33 GMT
Exactly the same thing has happened to me ever since I changed my hotmail password because scam emails were being sent to my contacts now I have to sign into outlook through Google if I want to access my hotmail emails

Have you read, at least, this page?

In reply to an earlier post on 16 Jan 2014 22:19:37 GMT
So how did you get back to checking emails on kindle without signing in each time. I have changed my password on my PC

Denis Powell says:
Pammy, what happens when you try to connect? Do you get a message? What make of Router do you have? Are you sure you're entering the correct Wireless Key/Password?

The quickest way to resolve the problem will be to use the Contact Us button to the right and ask Customer Services to telephone you. They can troubleshoot over the phone much quicker than we can here. You may have the problem sorted in minutes instead of the hours you may wait here for a solution.

I have the same problem with "Authentication failed" notice after changing my Gmail password. Gonna dump this crappy Kindle Fire HD!

In reply to an earlier post on 4 Jun 2014 11:11:04 BDT
@Keith: Think you have got that wrong. We will keep your money and dump you and your inability to use pretty basic technology. Mwahahahaha!
