Mine is well over three years old and still going strong.

How long is a piece of string?

You have one really well to keep it that long. Between me, my husband and my two adult daughters we have never had one go beyond 18 months. We have got through at least 10 between us over 3 years. Thank heavens for the extended warranty. Cherish your keyboard kindle for as long as you can because when it.'s gone, it's gone.

Some people are still using Kindles they bought in 2007.

Good to know......couldn't decide whether or not to buy a new paper white one but hopefully mine will last a bit longer!

I've not used the extended warranty, Linny. Having said that, I've got three kindles. The KK, the baby and the PW. Ohmigawd, I love my PW!

I get frustrated when reading a 'proper' book now. As I did when I first got my kindle.

It's hard to switch back n forth. I lick my finger at the completely wrong time. ;)

I didn't say it was me but since you seem to like being confrontational this will be my last reply to you on any thread.

By the way, P E, some people ARE using the Kindles they bought in 2007.
Me? No. But I do know one of my friends in the USA who is.
So, however rude you might want to be to one of the most knowledgeable people about Kindles, they are still right! People are using Kindles of that age.

I have found Denis to be the helper with most knowledge on here.

He will always correct himself if he finds things have changed which in the course of time things do.

Since I bought my first Kindle Touch he has helped me and others. He has helped me with non-kindle queries too - I think you are going to find you are a majority of one holding the belief that he is spreading fallacies. I have never found him to be wrong

Damaskcat says:
Same here, K A - without Denis a lot of people would have struggled with various problems with their Kindles.

We have two Kindle Keyboards, one of which was purchased in Sept 2010, it's still working fine.

Me too Josie, sorry I mean Lesley, I have had mine for 3 years and it hasn't exactly been kept on a silk pillow and it's still going strong.

I bought my first kindle in October 2009 and it still works perfectly well.

May 2010 for my Kindle 2

and yes, there are still people using the kindle 1s (2007 model) because I see people trying to find the correct SD card for them or a replacement battery. Those kindles and the original K2 and Kindle DX were US only, so it's likely none were sold in the UK (not to mention that the 2/3G coverage for those does not work outside the US).

Inga's October 2009 kindle was one of the first ones sold that would work outside the US that were released in October 2009.

Inga says:
Yes, CBR, I ordered my first kindle on the very first day kindles became available in the UK!

Knightmare says:
My Kindle Keyboard still works but has got very slow and clunky recently so I used that as an excuse to persuade my partner to buy me a Paperwhite for Christmas. I have had the KK since early 2011 and it has been used non-stop and taken everywhere with me, including on the beach and in the bath.

CBRetriever says:
took a while longer for my husband to convince me I needed to get one, especially given the price of over $300 USD

In reply to an earlier post on 11 Feb 2014 08:31:50 GMT
@Knightmare: I recently reset my KK to factory settings and am back to running it with just a handful of books and one collection (to hide the reference texts). Performing like new. May be worth considering. CW.
