I was sure it was going to be a troll before I opened this thread, something akin to a recent discussion we had on illegal downloads, where a forum user said it was ok because he/she was owed it and everyone does it anyway!!

I love a good crime spree! Have you tried Jo Nesbo? I loved all his books apart from the Redbreast.

Have you tried Rupture? I read it when he published it as his debut novel. It's stunning, shocking, thought-provoking, moving... I absolutely loved it!

My son reads them, but I started to read one, and it had an instument of torture designed for eyes, and it made me feel sick, I can't even stand that blowing thing that opticians use!..

LOL - I'm not sure if you'd she's your cup of tea but I enjoyed the Lynda La Plante books. I've read Leigh Russell on Kindle too and snapped up some bargains in the sales. Shame Daisi's not around as she's a real crime fiend or Stephen Morris as he's recommended a few. I'd recommend David Bale's books but they are more thriller than crime.

You'll find I get excited about Simon Lelic's work! His second novel The Facility is good too and his latest The Child Who is meant to be good and is in my Kindle waiting to be read. Honestly, try a sample of Rupture. It turns the high school shooting story on its head and makes you question who is right and who is wrong. It just gets better and better throughout the book! End of Simon Lelic praise!

Funny, scary or historical crime? The Stephanie Plum books are crime and very funny. The Matthew Shardlake are historical crime set in the dangerous political world of Henry VIII court and are excellent. I'm not to good on scary crime as I don't like scary books (said in a very small voice)

I downloaded the first one a while back solely on your recommendation so you alone are to blame if I don't enjoy it when I come to read it. ;)

Ok what about the Brother Cadfael books? They are very good. I've got Heresy on my wish list and it's just come down in price.

Yes read the Ellis Peters, but thanks for your other suggestion.

Not crime but have you read The Heaven Tree trilogy? The Heaven Tree (The heaven tree trilogy) it's Ellis Peters by another name they are sadly out of print but absolutely worth tracking down.

I read one of them, the middle one I think, the other two were always loaned out at the library. Really like something I could download, so thanks to all for the suggestions.

So did I at first! I think the spelling is the thing that misleads as Jo spelt that way in the UK usually means a woman!

I think he should make things clearer and call himself Nobby Nesbo.
