A week or so back someone said that their new KT fits in their KK Oberon cover and offered to post a photograph.
Are you out there?
Did you, or will you, post it please?

Hello BeeJay - yes, it was me and you will find the photo if you click on my name, it is shown in my profile :-)

Thanks Annie - I didn't realise there is so little difference in size given that the keyboard element is 4cm.
Do you have any concern over it dropping out or does it feel secure enough?
The reason I'm interested is that my KK has the dreaded crack but is under warranty.

I seem to remember someone saying that that style of cover often proves too tight for Kindle (any variety) and that is why screens crack (being squeezed to tightly I suppose) I have a cover exactly like that, and although I am a bit concerned about cracking the screen it is a better fit than the cover 'made for' the Kindle Keyboard, which has a 'window' cut out for the keyboard bit. It has nothing to stop the Kindle falling out though, which is more of a concern to me.
Each to his own I suppose :-)

BeeJayTee says:
The Oberon is sturdy leather and allows movement within the straps so it won't contribute to cracking.
In fact it's incredibly protective.
The reason I'm interested is that the Oberon is an expensive item and I don't want to discard it if I ever exchange Kindle models.

I can understand that BeeJayTee :-) Some of the covers are very pricey, so if you are going to splash out on one, you need to be sure it's fit for purpose :-) The Oberon looks as if it would be a good buy though :-) x

No concerns whatsoever BeeJay, it is very secure and I am delighted that it fits so well. Sorry the photo is so small, I could not think of any other way to display the photo for everyone to see - I did not want to display my e-mail address on a public forum or I would have sent it to you that way.

BeeJayTee says:
No probs Annie.
I'm pleased by your reassurance and I can always take the case with me to try when the day comes.

Suze says:
I suspect it helps because the Touch is fatter than the keyboard, which will help to anchor it under the straps, even though it isn't as long.

main reason I would never spend so much money and then have to guddle around to find a use for it when it was overtaken in future.

Mine's in a full slip in cover too- gives a lot of protection.

Does any one know if the paper white fits an Oberon kk cover? I'm upset the kk is no longer available as I don't really want a touch screen- having to retire my lovely cover when my kk dies (it's a bit ill..) would be the last straw.

BeeJayTee says:
If you look at the kindles in the kindle store all the dimensions are given.
Make a "Blue Peter" cardboard template and try it in the Oberon.
If there's any slack then some kind of padding insert behind the kindle - e.g. a thicker sheet of cardboard - will make it a tighter fit.
I luckily got my KK replaced with a 3G model, same size - but if I ever change I won't want to discard my Oberon.

Can you fold the Oberon covers so the left side is level with the "back" of the cover while reading? I bought the original Amazon cover and it's possible with that one, but I'd prefer a real leather cover and the Oberon covers look terrific.

Good idea BJT! I'll try that. Thankyou. (wish I'd bought another KK to keep in reserve-I'll just have to hope mine malingers along for a long time!)

P.S. I've had my Oberon cover over a year now. 'Folding back' was also something important to me (so comfy when lying down in bed!). I chose a design (The Roof of Heaven)that didn't seem overly thick at the spine and there are others that have less design over the spine. My cover has softened up a lot and folds back easily (I don't mind the creases that develop in the spine, its part of its charm)I wouldn't say it was dead flat and level though (it might get that way after another year) However I love it. There are nice 'pockets that you can slot your hand in for one armed reading. I found a few pics of folded back covers via Amazon .com before i took the plunge. If they are still there it will give you an idea.

BeeJayTee says:
I'd never do that, but that's me.
I won't fold a paperback cover over or fold a page corner.
It works for Moominmama so it's up to you.

P.S. says:
That sounds great, Moominmana, thanks! And I agree with you, BJT - I'd never fold a book back like that.

Kindle covers are different for me, though - as there's nothing to read on the front "flap" of the cover I don't mind folding it back, and I like holding the Kindle in one hand only :)

Will do, but with customs most likely getting involved I'm expecting to actually get the Van Gogh Sky (in sky blue) cover I ordered today at the end of January earliest ;)
