K. A. Newton says:
I worked with a girl who went on holiday with a friend who broke her ankle and had to go home. My colleague was therefore alone.

The manager of the hotel asked if she would act as companion for the week for an elderly English lady who also found herself unexpectantly alone in the hotel.

The son of the elderly lady arranged to pay my colleague's hotel bill and she went to shows and on trips with the elderly lady all paid for by the son and came home to a bank account not as empty as she thought it would be. In fact she went on holiday to Canada the next year.

The son was Kenneth Williams who also sent my colleague some flowers when she arrived home to thank her for befriending his mother.

Not many sons like that.

I thought Bernard Bresslaw was a great character, he was usually caste as a big gormless lump yet came across as a gentle giant as well. Sadly he died quite young of a heart attack.

So many to choose from, but it has to be Kenneth Williams for me also

I think this is interesting snippet about Kenneth Williams

Also I think Kenneth Williams reading on jackanory must have helped foster an interest in books for many children

KA, that's l a lovely story.
I wonder how many of the original carry on cast are still with us. I know Barbara whats her name is, but what about the rest of them.

In reply to an earlier post on 28 May 2012 13:16:38 BDT
Yes Brian, I think he was in his 50's when he died,
anyway what are going to do about our names?
We can't have two Brian's posting on here.
I suggest you think of a new name as being just 'Brian' you will slip further into obscurity :)

This is such a difficult choice. I loved them all! Joan Sims and Hattie Jacques were two of my favourites, but Kenneth Williams wins my vote. "Infamy! Infamy! They've all got it in for me!" (it doesn't look as funny written down sadly). LOL

tri5ia says:
Jim Dale is still with us - he'll be 77 in August. Angela Douglas will be 72 in October. Bernard Cribbins will be 85 at the end of December (I loved him as Wilfred in Doctor Who). I can't think of anyone else though. Joan Sims died in 2001. [SIGH]

Brian - you're being muscled by an escargot.
Don't forget - you are The One And Only

In reply to an earlier post on 28 May 2012 18:18:26 BDT
You have no backbone Brian (like me).
I do admire your restraint and good natured approach to our name problem.
Therefore I shall allow you to keep your name and I shall change mine eventually.

In reply to an earlier post on 28 May 2012 18:34:32 BDT
Brian says:
like it BJ - I'm not changing it
