Simon The Coldheart And The Conqueror are both great books by Georgette Heyer set in the the knights of old times. The first is a shorter novel the second is a story of William the Conqueror seen through the eyes of an idealistic young knight. Don't be put off if you are worried about her rep as a romance writer, even though there is romance like all her novels the history is spot.

Have you tried Elizabeth chadwick a lot of her books are about knights, likewise Sharon Penman writes excellent historical novels.Helen Kirkman writes good books, also a relatively nre authour Stewart Binns has written two books. Jean Plaidy has written a lot of books so you could probably find something amongst her stuff. Sandra Worth writes good stuff. Also Barbara Erskine writes good books a lot of hers are about reincarnation so the main person in the book gets to regress into the past.
