Towels are often used as territorial markers in foreign hotel gardens.

One can and one does. One of the above towels is theoretically to step out onto, but in practice is often for a cat to sit on while I'm in the bath.

That would seem to be one more than strictly necessary . . Part of the point, though, is that one can use a towel for so much more than merely drying oneself.

Is it towel day? I'll have a bath to celebrate - if I wash my hair as well I'll use at least 3 towels :).

NJ says:
Ha! But, obviously enough: *never* throw in your towel!

Bump! (i.e. I am resurrecting this threat because it is, almost, towel day again!)

And if I may: Philosophy and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

4 people shared the just over 3million jackpot last night.
They had to get all 6 numbers for that.

I have had five numbers TWICE.
You don't get much for just one number short each time.

Once was a lucky dip - the lotto computer chose the numbers.

The second time was with the same birthday numbers I have used each week since UK Lotto started - if I had been born in 1949 instead of 1948 I would be a rich woman. LOL. All spent now though.

It was called The Rag Trade and the shop steward was a woman - I think it was a Jewish actress played that part "Everybody Out".

Sheila Hancock played one of the machinists.

You've got a long memory Brian.

I loved the UK tv Hitchiker series - got it on dvd. Knocks the American version into a paper bag.

I read all the books (tree version) one by one as they were issued - Think I've still got them somewhere.

Do you remember the narrator on the tv, I can hear his voice in my ears now.

Do you remember the tv series that he was in with his arch rival the shop steward and a whistle.
