It's supposed to be in your cloud - just deleted from your device :-)

Thankyou so much Combat Cloud, I have just done this and it has worked. I tried it first with a book I wasn't really bothered about, and there it was still in my cloud. Thankyou also for being so patient and persevering.

Archive IS Cloud. They are exactly the same thing. Archive is now called Cloud.

@Margaret: On my touch if I long touch a book title I get the option to DELETE FROM THIS DEVICE. It does just that, takes it off my Touch. It then appears (like magic) in my cloud list and is ready to downlaod some day in the future if I ever want to read it.

I don't know of any change that has changed to long press to delete. I must be misunderstanding something :( sorry.

My problem is that when had finished reading a book, I sent it to "archives", so that I would be left with books I hadn't read (there are many) since the update, when it was changed from archive to cloud, I have not not able to seperate them I am using "Kindle Touch"

I have read the update to "Kindle Users guide" but can't find a mention.

I am using "Kindle Touch."

Denis is right.

Just long touch on a book when it is not open and select Remove from device on the little menu that appears.

On a Kindle Keyboard or a Kindle Basic select the book but don't open it. Press the left edge of the 5-way button and a little "Delete from Device" prompt appears. Press middle button and the book will be deleted from the device.

In either case - the book will still be in your archive/library/cloud and can only be deleted FOREVER from your Manage my Kindle page.

Denis Powell says:
All your Amazon ebooks are permanently in the Cloud unless you delete them from Manage Your Kindle.

If you don't want a book on your device, simply long touch and select "Remove from Device".

archives / cloud are all the same - the word changed because "cloud" sounds sexier.

Your books are on your kindle device or your cloud.

Perhaps I'm not understanding your post. If you have a problem like lost books try the yellow CONTACT US button and ask Amazon to call you back for free to discuss the issue.

How do I get my books on my e-reader, into cloud. When it was archives, before cloud, you held the name of the book down, then you had the option to sent it to archive. I have tried that and it dioesn't work.
