Thanks Denis.
Did you happen to have come across this question earlier, I wondered if you had any previous ones?

how would I lower the picture quality?

Denis Powell says:
I have BBC I Player on my Sony DVD, but my broadband speed is too slow for the HD setting but works well with SD quality.

For reasons I don't understand the TVCatchup app gives a much better quality BBC picture than the BBC app.

Good thought Denis....

Denis Powell says:
Try lowering the picture quality in the app. Your broadband may be too slow for the highest quality.

Try switching the Fire off completely. Leave it for a few seconds and then start it up again. I had something similar happen when I first did it, and that sorted it out.

I have a kindle fire hd and can't get the iplayer to work, I've loaded both the iPlayer app and the Bbc Media one but it keeps looking like it will load the pink circle goes round but then just goes back to the previous screen. I've had awful trouble getting the Kindle hd wirelessly connected and ended up having a new router which finally got it going.

Penelope.

Probably only way will be through a VPN (Hides your real IP address/Location from say Netflix). Can't tell you how as I don't have the knowledge with a KF but expect enough research (via google) will provide the answer/app for you.

Alter Settings to allow downloads from any site.
Download the good e reader app store.
From 'essential downloads' in the GoodeReader store, install the ES File app.
Download the Dolphin Browser HD and Flash player for ICS.
Then you just use Dolphin to browse the web and Flash files play fine.

Hi Denis
Could you please explain a bit more about goodereader.com. I've had a look but can't work out how to download the app store. It's giving me different options to 'play online' or 'download on our site' but if I click on the latter it's only for online games? I don't want to download anything that will mess up my kindle fire.
Thanks
Sharon

very disappointed in the kindle. I live in Spain and bought it thinking I could watch films through lovefilms or a movie streaming website but I can't. I have to go to amazon.es Iinstead and its nothing like the UK website. I even tried taking it back and getting money back but the shop wont refund or exchange as I have used it. if anyone has any advise on getting to watch movies please let me know.

Mike, there are a lot of useful apps not yet available in the Amazon App Store. I've installed the app store from the goodereader.com website and that has the Dolphin browser and Flash for those websites that need it. It also has the apps necessary for borrowing ebooks from Public Libraries. If you like Audible Audio books, which aren't fully supported on the Fire yet, you can download the Audible App for Android from the goodereader app store too.

If you want to use your Fire productively goodereader has the Polaris Office Suite which is one of the best and is pre-installed on many Tablets.

Again, my thanks not only for pointing me in the right direction and getting the apps I wanted but knowing that there are old and happy people like me about who are willing to help others.

Mike, on your Fire, Home screen, tap Apps, then tap Store, type BBC into the search bar and tap the orange button on the keyboard and iPlayer is the first thing listed. I have no idea where you're seeing ads. The app store on the Fire only shows the apps. Are you looking on the Website?

Mike says:
Just where abouts is the bbciplayer app in the appstore, I have spent the last two days looking for it with negative result, all I keep getting is more ads for Kindle fire products.
Your help or anyones help will be greatly appreciated.

you can download youtube and iplayer from the amazon app store they both work very well i`ve had no problems with it you cant access the google play store because the kindle not compatible i have the £159 one but i soppose theres no difference unless you want Hd hope this helps :D

Denis Powell says:
All you have to do is go to the App store on the device, search for BBC iPlayer, "Buy" it - it's free - and install. If memory serves me correct it prompts you to then also install BBC Media player. Once that's done the iPlayer should open. You'll need to adjust the quality setting as the default, in my opinion, isn't particularly good.

If you have any questions about how to navigate the app please ask again. I may not be here to answer for several hours but I'm sure someone else will help.

Good luck with it.
