Today we are excited to announce the arrival of Kindle Paperwhite and Kindle Paperwhite 3G - our most advanced ereaders ever. Kindle Paperwhite devices come with a built-in light which evenly illuminates the screen to provide the perfect reading experience in all lighting conditions. The new devices come with a higher contrast touchscreen, making the whites whiter and blacks blacker. Reading has never been so enjoyable, and available for £109.

Kindle Paperwhite 3G also comes with Free 3G wireless - no hunting or paying for Wi-Fi hotspots, no annual contracts or monthly fees - for £169.

Both devices are available to pre-order from amazon.co.uk today.

Enjoy!

The Kindle Team

I want one ... I was saving up for my birthday in March thinking that they would release it then ... I am going to buy one anyway - after all, having a new Kindle can make anyone's day feel like a birthday

This is interesting though
"Coming later this month - Kindle Owners' Lending Library - with an Amazon Prime membership, Kindle owners can choose from more than 200,000 books to borrow for free with no due dates, including current and former top sellers in the Amazon.co.uk Kindle Store and all 7 Harry Potter books".

Oh the buggers. I've just bought a touch as i imagined we wouldn't get it until next year. Guess what I've just one clicked. I suppose i could sell my k3 and keep the touch as my spare.

Looks like the Touch is out of the lineup and this replaces it.

Dave.

is this to do with the release of the textr ereader?

KindleFan says:
The library scheme only seems to let you borrow one book per month - I read at least 5 per week ....

Agreed, £50 a year for one book a month.... Not sure if that's great value, I know you get one day delivery, which is great for Christmas but to be fair I'm happy with the super saver delivery so, £50 for 12 books, mmmm, I suppose it would be ok for the latest releases

ijim, the Kindle Owners Lending Library is a "perk" for those who find Prime useful for deliveries. It's not intended to be the only use of Prime. I'll probably use it to read those ebooks which I find too expensive to buy.

I bought it on the 19th of September but i got it from John Lewis I doubt they will let me return it.

I don't need next day delivery because I have a Kindle and can get books without parcels !!

Phone amazon, they may well exchange it for the PW even though you purchased it from JLewis. I had a fault with a kindle I purchased from JL and amazon just replaced it no quibble at all. I have to say JL and Amazon have always provided great service.

OK - I've done it - Kindle and cover ordered. As OH pointed out .... it costs nearly £100 to fill the car up with diesel these days - if I have my new Kindle I shall drive less !!
