It doesn't look like either a typo or an accidental misspelling. Since it's so unsubtle, don't you think the author would have spotted it if it was an error? I think it was just a way of underlining the point - or maybe she just wanted to see how many people would come flocking to put her straight.

But of course, only Js Ryan can really solve the mystery for us.

Ok, if Js Ryan's post is "genuine" then I will answer positively. Occasionally, I do get frustrated regarding the lack of proof reading/editing. Recently (over the past weekend) I read an ebook and will admit that the lack of the above was quite dire: at times I had to fathom out for myself:)
All in all, most of my ebooks are fine but a few "bad apples" do turnip.. errr.. turn up:)
