Thank you Berzelius, that's exactly what I needed. I obviously didn't understand the first time. As a new kindle owner I didn't know that Amazon worked that way so that's useful to know too. Your posts are really helping me get to grips with my new ereader so please keep the comments coming.

There is a straight answer. You can not have your own screen savers on the current eReader Kindles. As I mentioned above you can google on hacks to do the job, but I really wouldn't recommend it unless you know what you are doing.

As for Amazon not replying, the bottom line is that Amazon simply will not tell you their future plans - on screensavers or anything else. They'll let us know about any changes only when they feel like doing so. I'm afraid that you, and the rest of us, simply have to live with this.

No one seems to have a straight answer, shame Amazon doesn't reply as I too would like a screensaver that suits me not the kindle.

Google on changing the screen saver and you will find a YouTube of a hack for one of the older kindles (I can't remember the link, unfortunately). Quite likely you'll find one for the Touch also. However, I'd say it looked quite complicated and, of course, with anything like this there's always a chance of bricking your device.

I would love to change the screen savers on my kindle touch too. I was thinking it would be great if Amazon teamed up with a website like Deviantart so we could have fan art of favourite series or characters? Does anybody know how to actually work the hack to change the screen savers? thanks :)

A couple of the screensavers are portraits, it drives me crazy trying to remember the subjects. Anyone know them?

Go to the title that you have read and highlight it then left click on the square button and hey presto it goes to archive, if you want to completely remove it go into the manage my kindle section on amazons website and follow the instructions easy when you know how

If you want to remove a book Permanently from your Kindle Library. Firstly remove it to your Kindle Archive file, then in your own time go to your Amazon Account - into your Kindle Manage your Account File & into your Library where all your Kindle books are stored. Find the book(s) you want to delete & follow from the title to the end (on the right) you will find an oblong shaped button which you can click on to delete the book from your account permanently. The next time you switch your Kindle on the book will be automatically removed from the device.

Re the hack for screensavers, I did look at one on YouTube once. To be honest, it was complicated. If you're not technically savvy I wouldn't even think about it, and even if you are there's always a chance that you might brick your Kindle.

In reply to an earlier post on 28 Sep 2012 14:54:04 BDT
think they're stored 'forever' at Amazon, so you're only deleting them from your actual device. Do double check that though as i've only had mine a couple of weeks :-)...but manual fresh in my mind !

I have a kindle touch and I named a folder -'book reading📑books read📚Books to read📖
I had to do it that way as I could never remember which book I was reading or had read.
(Hopefully this will help, little bit of advice...don't know about the other Kindles though sorry🙈

I also would like to change the screen saver on the Touch, so I can use my own photos of the kids....
I would also like to be able to change the COMPUTER voice, to make the stories more interesting when it reads to me...I never have the Kindle 'speech to talk on' as its sooooooooooooo boring 💤 💤 💤 💤 💤 💤 💤 💤💤 💤 💤 💤 💤 💤 💤 💤 💤 💤 💤 💤 💤

thank goodness someone else thinks that, i'm always forgetting the title of the book i'm reading. even if it showed accross the top of the screen as you were reading.

Can't Amazon use it's creativity and download suitable ones to our machines, the default ones display a conspicuous lack of imagination.

What glare??!! It is precisely because I was amazed just how readable my wife's Kindle was in the bright sunshine on a Spanis beach that I bought one. I find it to be as easy to read as a paper book in bright sunshine, so I ams urprised to see you asking about glare?
