my kindle is not well, charging overnight but still have to reset. Seems the battery needs replacing, Any ideas where I can get a new battery as looked on the Amazon site and can't find a replacement.

My husband had this problem and it was apparently caused by the Kindle cover, which needed replacing - Amazon sorted it.

Hi there
I have had this problem how is the cover responsible? Maybe that is the problem I have- just had an exchange on kindle as only 5 weeks old and doing it.

Believe or not I have taken the clips out of the device that held it to the cover and not a problem, charging perfectly okay now. Strange this has happened now as I have had my Kindle over 16 months and only in the last 2 months has this become an issue

According to the Kindle instructions the user is not advised to try and change the battery when needed yiu have to contact the supplier and they will arrange for the replacement

Are there any plans for an in car charger?

The clips are used by some covers to power the reading light. If your cover was shorting the terminals it would drain the battery very fast.

Any in car USB charger can be used. There are plenty of cheap ones available.

What about when the Kindle is out of warranty.? Do you have to pay the supplier to change the battery.?

Posted on 20 Mar 2012 16:40:16 GMT
The only models that you can change the battery yourself on were the K1 & K2, K3 users can't change their own battery without voiding the warranty. The K3 was deliberately designed this way to force users into either paying to have it replaced or upgrading to a newer Kindle model.

What about changing the battery in a Kindle 3G.?

Had my Kindle for over a year now; it ha been great but nowI seem to have to 'reset' it by holding back the power slide switch for ages. Don't mind doing this but I seem to have to do it most days. Any suggestions what I can do?
