I've noticed that Arrow seem to bring out a lot of fans who are so anal about the films, for example people that say I prefer the 1.1 second longer Italian Punjabi been to hell and back cut that comes with the knife used at the beginning of House By The Cemetery*

* - I Made that up

But the way I see it is if the films are top quality, handled with care, best picture/sound quality and come with extras then I don't see why people are moaning

Seriously.... At the start I thought the whining to be somewhat trivial myself but they have made several really big screw-ups that are hard to disregard, sure they have top notch extra's but several transfers have been in someway lacking or flawed and I find the way the "The Beyond" fiasco was handled to be a tad insulting, first they have the prologue colours so far from the original edit I can't even begin to fathom how they done it if not deliberately, then they promise this version will be replaced before release, then after a delay it comes out with online warnings at cult-labs that some copies will be incorrect and need to be replaced, then it turns out the release went ahead without a single correct copy in circulation and no attempt at recalls, I mean isn't this just ridiculous!

I understand it must be frustrating to hear of these so called ultimate editions homegrown, affordable and easy to pick up only for some guy to tell you the rare as hell German version looks much better but these fans though obsessive are only trying to help or are annoyed at Arrow for messing up various films, you don't have to actually track down another version just because someone says its better but they should be allowed that opinion, personally I think the whole situation is too overblown now as most people get annoyed at those who fault Arrow releases as rabid senseless distractors or those who defend them as biased fanboys with almost no-one's opinion any longer trustworthy, to be honset I've been avoiding the whole commotion up until recently when "Bay of Blood" got me too mad not to say anything and likewise I'm caught up in this "The Beyond" mess due to my love for the film.

Arrow are just a distributor, out for money like the rest, if they do good like "Battle Royale", "Phenomena" or "City of the Living Dead" then I'll give credit where its due but if they screw up like with "Bay of Blood" or "The Beyond" I won't defend the error or even keep my trap shut, sorry if that makes me or my kind of cult fan somewhat anal!

By the way your entire point is just a steal from an old topic on Arrow's "Deep Red" disc with the joke used to much weaker effect, I'd say the original topic held up best and is the version to read, this new edit just doesn't do the fans justice at all.

I've been happy with the ones I do have, although I don't have many and glad I haven't rushed into buying them all now. Not that I needed too anyway, as I already have most if not all of the films already on Blue Underground etc.

The Arrow releases I own out of the newer packaged (older Arrow releases not included) and happy with:

Silent Night, Deadly Night
Street Trash
City of the Living Dead
House by the Cemetery
Dawn of the Dead
Battle Royale
The Card Player

The newer packaged Arrow releases I planned on buying eventually, even though I already own other releases:

Vamp
Deep Red
Phenomena
The Beyond
Inferno
Tenebrae (I hope they do a really good job with this one and that it's the longest version)
Day of the Dead
Sleepless
Macabre
Demons
Demons 2
Martin

I did also plan on buying "Blood Feast 2" (unrated), but only because the one in my shriek show triple feature is the R-rated version. I still might not bother though with this unrated Arrow version unless I see it really cheap.

I can only comment on the one I've got so far-'Vamp' and I'm so bloody glad it's finally out. The picture transfer is exemplary and thank God this film is finally here (been in limbo so long, yet stolen from for a million other 'modern' vampire films). Extras are pretty neat, but my one gripe is that the commentary on the US copy is not included here, a big deal as it was far more informative about the film, this one bangs on more about other movies the one star present has done, and the film critic is very little fun or use.

Thank God I have the US release! They look like they've done a good job with 'Phenomena' (wonder why they dropped 'Creepers' as the title?) and a few other titles appearing look interesting, but I'll await the price to drop cos I'll be trying these films completely new.

Vernon, like the way you put 'Vamp' at the top of your list to get! I wish Arrow would resurrect 'Nightlife' from 1989, 'Cellar Dweller', 'The Blob' and 'Ghost Town' both from 1988 and 'Hardcover'aka'I' Madman' as they so need to be rescued, and 1983's 'Werwolf' too, but I do not expect any extras to survive for all these releases, I just want them out and not only available on rickety old VHS at big prices when they're likely in bad nick anyway.

Hopefully they won't make too many mistakes that other labels do, we'll just have to see.
