Thought it'd be in interesting to make a topic for people to discuss those moments in film we didn't believe we'd just saw, those mind-blowing moments that stuck in our mind, who wants to go first?

The moment in 'Xtro' when the pregnant woman gives birth to a fully grown man and the scene in the original 'I spit on your grave' when Jennifer hill is the bath with the leader of the gang of hillbillies and then picks up a nice big knife and gently slices it off :O The last shot of him, white as white thing, drained of blood.

Totally agree on both of those, especially "Xtro" as I just couldn't make sense of it and didn't see it coming at all, crazy movie but a pretty cool one.

It was a contortionist who gave the creature in Xtro, it's weird and creepy movement.
Love it :)

Another film that has a "i don't believe it!!!" moment is Possession from 1983. I haven't seen the film but i've read about the infamous "octopus" scene. Have you seen it?

Yeah "Xtro" is great, didn't know about the contortionist but it makes so much sense replaying the scene in my head, I wish the rubbish sequels had even half the quality of the first.

I've seen "Possession" and own the recent US Blu-ray (which I upgraded from the UK DVD, which was an upgrade from my Spanish DVD) , usually I hate upgrading but look for the mondo vision site to see their recent special edition, how could anyone not want to own that! Anyway that is one powerful, intense and amazing film, full of great moments and more than a few where your jaw might hit the floor, the octopus scene is really something else though, I've seen the film maybe 10 times and it still feels weird seeing it!

I've been meaning to buy the most recent region 2 dvd release of Possession. I'd best get round to purchasing it. I've seen the trailer on youtube and you get the intense feel of the film and the acting, just in a 3 minute clip :)

I take it you don't own a multi-region player then? If you own a Blu-ray player the new US release plays in any player.

I haven't unfortunately but i've seen some multi region players on here, so i'm defo thinking about getting one.

I've heard that Region 1 is of better quality aswell ie picture & sound :)

Well not always but quite often the US version is better than the UK, also they bypass censorship and sometimes have more special features, in addition to all that sometimes their versions are cheaper too so in the long run the player ends up paying for itself.

E. Hull says:
Ah, I have one of 'those' moments. It's the bit in The Church where the girl jumps out of the window still clutching the phone (a moment rather spoiled in the telling uness you predate mobiles !). I was watching with my son-in-law, with whom I share a taste for horror, and we literally rolled on the floor with laughter!!!
