The question is simply too hard, still I'll give it a go, forgive me if I end up editing the list over and over.

1. The Beyond
2. Cannibal Holocaust
3. Anthropophagus
4. Zombi 2
5. Nekromantik
6. City of the Living Dead
7. Island of Death
8. Halloween
9. Don't Torture a Duckling
10. Profondo Rosso

like I said I'm liable to look at this tomorrow and get really annoyed and change it completely but the top five will almost certainly stay, I've felt certain of their positions for a while now.

VERY difficult as I watch at least two a week, but I'll give it a shot:
1. Profondo Rosso
2. Exorcist III
3. REC
4. Spoorlos (aka The Vanishing)
5. Inside
6. Funny Games
7. The Baby's Room
8. Frontieres
9. Antibodies
10. Shock

But then there's Tenebrae, WAZ, Kill Baby Kill, Hatchet for a Honeymoon, Diary of the Dead, House by the Cemetery, The Last Horror Film, Black Sabbath, Black Sunday, Les Diaboliques, Macabre, The Changeling (not Angelina Jolie!), Switchblade Romance, Ringu, Juon: The Grudge, Der Todesking ... look I have been collecting horror films since the late 1980s, so I could go on for a very loooooooooong time :)

Amnesiac1986 says:
1. Dellamorte Dellamore
2. Re-animator

4. Don't look now
5. Halloween
6. Spoorlos
7. What have they done to Solonge
8. Ginger snaps
9. Bird with the crystal plummage
10. Mask of satan

Obviously there are hundreds more that I could add, and I'm not happy with the order, but its the best I can do for now.

Collette says:
He's referring to A Walker's post Count. If you click on 'in reply to an earlier post' it tells you what/who's post it is.

J. J. Pecino says:
Count Zaroff, Collette is right I was referring to A Walker's post count. I watched The Beyond when I was a teenager, many, many moons ago and was completely freaked out. A lot of the movies on your list I have never heard of. I shall endeavour to watch them. Thanks for enlightening me. :-]

In reply to an earlier post on 29 Nov 2009 09:13:24 GMT
Doc Benway says:
JJ, you won't go far wrong following the Count and A.Walker's recommendations. They've opened my eyes in the last year or so to loads of underground US and European horror.
If you do, you'll be freaking out a whole lot more.

We get 20 now? That just makes it harder, okay my list the extended writers cut with never before seen choices (out soon on DVD and Blu-Ray!).

1. The Beyond
2. Cannibal Holocaust
3. Anthropophagus
4. Zombi 2
5. Nekromantik
6. City of the Living Dead
7. Island of Death
8. Halloween
9. Don't Torture a Duckling
10. Profondo Rosso
11. Cannibal Ferox
12. Suspiria
13. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
14. Hitch-Hike
15. Psycho
16. Santa Sangre
17. The Wicker Man
18. Inferno
19. The Bloodstained Shadow
20. Videodrome

Well thats it, once again I feel I've neglected some good films and can't help but doubt some of my decisions but if I change my mind I'll come back and edit the list endlessly.

By the way J.J. Pecino thanks for taking such interest in my list, feel free to use it as a shopping guide but note I tend to favour cult Italian films so if thats not your thing don't take my list too seriously.

Doc Benway here you are complementing me again, thanks for being so kind but you're too modest, you too have great taste and know of some great films, haven't watched "Harakiri" yet but I'll definitely get it done this week as I don't want it put away until almost Christmas.

J. J. Pecino says:
Your're welcome A Walker. Just hard to decide which one to get first. Any recommendations?

In reply to an earlier post on 1 Dec 2009 13:51:39 GMT
Sorry but I couldn't say which if any of my films you'd be best looking into, do a little research and pick whichever one you think will suit your tastes.

P.S. "Stagefright" sadly got kicked off my list, I didn't want to but I was browsing through my collection last night and when my eyes hit "Videodrome" I knew I'd commited an injustice, I still feel bad leaving "Stagefright" out but I can't deny "Videodrome" is a better film.

J. J. Pecino says:
