Hi,

I am not a techi and have been having trouble getting audio on my tv when my PVR is hooked up.

Here are the details:

TV Panasonic-GT30: http://www.avforums.com/review/Panasonic-GT30-TX-P50GT30B-42GT30-46GT30-50-Inch-3D-Plasma-TV-Review.html

PVR: Humax Foxsat HDR: http://www.whathifi.com/review/humax-foxsat-hdr/specs

Blu-ray Home cinema Panasonic SC-BTT270EBK: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Panasonic-SC-BTT270EBK-Blu-ray-Cinema-iPhone/dp/tech-data/B004TEYFTA/ref=de_a_smtd

I have the Humax and Blu - ray connected to the TV via HDMi cables.

Humax connected to HDMI1
Blue - ray connected to HDMI2 (ARC)

When I change the source on the TV to HDMI2 I do get audio through my surround sound when i play a dvd or viera cast. When I go back to AV HDMI1(Humax) I get a pic but no audio. The only time I will get sound on HDMI1 is when I have the Blu-ray turned off. What I want is to be able to have the Humax and blu ray on at the same time and all audio coming out of the surround sound speakers when ever I swap AVs.

I have read the reviews and googled this problem but can't seem to get a resoltuion having tried a few things.

The TV does have freeview and freesat already but I wanted to hook up my Humax so I could use it as a storage device plus the my two sat cables are not long enough to reach the TV.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

Is there no provision for an optical connection you will get the sound you want with an optical lead

I hope you already have this sorted but if not the HDMI2 connection is the only one with Audio Return Channel. The HDMI 1 and 3 need a seperate Audio connection. As Mr H says, you need to connect the Humax to the Home theatre with either an optical lead (Best) or with the Audio cable that comes with the player.

I have had identical problems and solved them after fitting an optical cable between the Humax (SP....) and the Bluray. The key to this can be found in the blu-ray instructions on page 16 Best of luck, Brian

Well I've got the Panasonic 42 plasma with ARC through a Sony AV I find that my virgin tv goes through the av to HDMI 2 so I guess humax to blu ray then tv if u can't buy an automatic hdmi switcher box or easy an optical cable if you can't do ARC??well I think this might help tv out to home cinema system into hdmi2 should work as long as your 5.1 supports play through I think.. That might help my tv,in to av, then Tv?? Might need an AV upgrade to have audio return connectivity??
