India says:
Suppose home improvements is required perhaps with a view to selling, should the home improvement plan be sourced by a survey through a RICS qualified surveyor?

As a surveyor I would suggest you do not need one if you know what improvements need to be done, just the right specialist trades. But if you are buying another home, I would definitely recommend you get a Home Condition Survey carried out before signing any contracts. For an avg 3 bed semi I would charge £350.
