i would love to see a film called "narc"being released, it stars the brilliant ray lottia and jason patric.

also very disapointed with full metal jacket , thought the picture was very poor.
thought 80s classic the warriors was amazing picture for a film thats 30years plus old

I'm waiting for 'The Man Who Would Be King' you can get it on import region free for abig price but surely it will be released over here. A 'reel' classic. I find most Warner Bros. Blu-Ray classic releases are poor quality. I don't know if anyone else has found this, esp., the Dirty Harry Boxset that was only DVD quality at best!!! Also I recently purchased David Leans Great Expectations on Blu-Ray and the copy I got for free from a national sunday newspaper was just as good!

If you have a multi-region blu ray player you can get hold of Yojimbo and Sanjuro as an import:

Criterion Collection - Yojimbo & Sanjuro (2 disc package)

Price is a bit steep though at £37 including postage, but on the plus side Criterion always seem to take great pains with their restorations, and invariably get excellent blu ray reviews. Check out www.blu-ray.com for comprehensive reviews of Criterion restorations of these and many other films.

Seems to be the case that if you want to get hold of classics like this on blu ray two of the best options are Criterion in the US or Eureka in the UK. Eureka's excellent Masters of Cinema Collection has some interesting titles - check out their website. Also, Eureka will update you via Twitter with any news on their upcoming blu ray restorations.

I was disappointed with Jurassic Park, picture wise. I'm talking about the grain. I don't know if it was intentionally added on not, but there was too much I think. Apart from the grain the picture is fantastic quality. It's my favorite childhood film ever. I expected more after the hype and that.

I'd rather natural film grain than the alternative.

Malcolm in the Middle. I'd settle for DVD copies.
Most disappointing? Probably Total Recall. Apart from the awful picture, the film itself hasn't dated particularly well either, IMHO.

C. Gould says:
I wouldn't call the picture awful (assuming you're talking about the UK version), it's just an early example of the format. There's a new director-approved version coming out next month.

Cerberus says:
Yeah I knew Criterion had released all three some time ago, the BFI were supposed to have released them also near 18 months ago, yet when asked about what's going on you get no reply from BFI.

B = Old term for a fatherless child, F = crude term for sexual intercourse and I = Incompetence.

I would like to see the Blade films get put onto Blu-ray too.

Uncle DJ says:
The Blade films are coming out. No date to my knowledge has been set yet. It'll be longer for me though, as I'm no fan of the third which means individual releases for 1 & 2.

Just watched the BD of Midnight Express last night. It's a great movie and the Moroder soundtrack is one of his best, but it looks just like a port-over from DVD (or even VHS). Nowhere near HD quality image and the audio makes little or no use of surround sound.

C. Gould says:
The Blade films have been available for some time in both region A and B. I have the first two films (Dutch versions) and they're not bad. I imagine any future UK releases will look better, but then if EiV still holds the rights it will depend largely on where they source the materials.

yeah i was also disapointed with midnight express picture

I'm quite looking forward to the 3D Blu-ray of Avatar, which I gather is due out just before Christmas. There's no way I'm paying the silly money asked on eBay for the "exclusive" Panasonic version. Even second hand in CEX, Avatar 3D is going for the best part of £60.

What a child...

BFI has released 9 Ozu films on Blu-ray, Criterion has only done one (and it's inferior to the BFI's) but I'm not going to harangue them like an idiot for something they're not required to do and which other people do perfectly well. I'm in America, I have the UK Ozu Blu-rays...and you could do exactly the same with what you want.

The point is BFI said they were down to be released a long time ago but hey if asking them directly what's happening to the release and that's "harangue them like an idiot for something they're not required to do" then maybe they should remove all ways of getting in contact to ask them a question fool.

What a child lmfao.... scurry on back to the southbank.

Children who don't get what they want call a company that does excellent work B(astard) F(******) I(ncompetence). Here's some useful information for you, companies like BFI and Criterion don't reply to every single Email they get, in fact they reply to very few. This should be apparent and expected. Please try to be less paranoid (why would anyone take their lack of response this seriously?) and entitled in the future.

Paranoid ? disappointed more like.
The fact that a product announced by them has missed the release date by some 18 months plus and a consumer ( gee golly, you know dude.. the people that purchase products... small cog eh ) asked a question as to when will it be released and you hear nothing ?

Remove the contact info it's that simple if they can't be bothered to give a very brief we're not releasing it or it's been delayed till blah blah blah sorry.

I'm hanging on for Rollerball (James Caan version obviously), The Black Hole and the great underrated Sean Penn movie State of Grace. Haven't really had any disapointing classics, though i do tend to do a load of research before paying out my hard earned. Check out www.dvdbeaver.com and www.dvdcompare.net. Invaluable when it comes to picking up Blu-Ray & DVD's.
