I have not yet read any ivy compton burnett novels, could anyone recommend one of her books. What is the best book that she has written?

Geranium says:
I can not find any in print any more.
If you can find it try "The Present and the Past." Her novels are written mainly in dialogue. They feature families with characters that are often unusual, outspoken and fascinating, this includes the children.

Clio Austin says:
Her books are on very similar themes - the tensions, tyrannies and claustrophobia of family life but I would recommend "A House and its Head" and "Manservant and Maidservant".
