Yesterday I tried to lift water with my mind when i was in the bath. But just like in that Heroes Tv show, i held my hand over the water as if that would somehow make it easier...

Not sure this belongs on the fiction board, but it was on my mind...does anyone else try to lift things with their minds

I wish I was. Just thinking that the glass would be refilled with delicious wine without me getting up and to the fridge would be fantastic.

Banjanx says:
well it clearly doesn't belong on the fact board

I'm telekinetically able to move my hands. That's right, move them with the power of thought alone. Sometimes I can move my legs too. I find alcohol dulls my supernatural ability though.

Sila says:
Robert - that's great news, man. Can you move anyone else's legs/arms?

I just thought a cup of tea...well I glared at my husband until he made one...he is in the naughty corner he left a board with nail in the garden and I stepped on it!

Banjanx - Ha, right. I bet the fun never stops on the fact board.

Of course I can. What kind of superhero would I be if I couldn't move other people's limbs too? All I do is telekinetically animate my hands and use them as tools to make other people's arms and legs do my bidding. Unfortunately, though, every superhero has his arch nemesis. Damn that police department and its restraining orders! Honestly, those things are my kryptonite.

Beth - you stepped on the garden or the board?

As for making your husband make a cup of tea for you...I feel that's more to do with the power of your eyeballs...eyeball-kinesis...than your mind. Do you ever practice lifting the kettle with your mind?

I'm sure our cat is a wannabe telekenetic. He stands in front of me staring at my computer as if to try and lift it off my lap. After a few minutes he usually gives up and goes for the old fashioned approach of sitting on top of it.

Cheers

Cuban Heel says:
Yeah, my dog does that. She sits in front of me and keeps raising her paw up and down, as though I'm going to rise up off the couch (like the X-Fighter did when Yoda motioned at it in Empire Strikes Back) and go let her out for a pee.

Having said that, I'm actually typing this while I'm in the bath, but my laptop is in the living room...

For the last hour I've been trying to get Charlie Brooker to feel up David Mitchell...

Cuban Heel says:
Brilliant. Let me know if it works and I'll turn over straight away.

Oh god, the dog's doing it again. Feel...myself...lifting... No, it's not working. I'd better go and let her out. She'll only start howling in a minute.

No... can't move anything other than me by thought. Stavrogrin - did you screw your face up and make grunting noises as well as stick your hand out? If not, maybe try that next time. ;)

But one of my cats has a sticking ability. He gets on the bed, and I swear it's like he's stuck down with glue. Try to roll him off, and he stuffs his nose further under his paws, pretends you're not there, and still I can't move him. Had another cat a long time ago who could stick to laps. You'd have to be almost upright before she fell off. Must be a cat thing.

Brooker didn't do what I mind-said, but he did seem to be leaning closer to Mitchell at the end of the show...

Lisa - I hold out my hand and facially i copy the two guys from 'Heroes' - Sylar, with his hand flicks, and the fat ex-cop, with his weird glaring.

A lot of cats seem to have superpowers on this thread. What is their secret?

Cats are just awesome. Simple.

What about Hero? His faces are the best!

As a teenager, I regularly tried to make pens roll across the desk, flick light switches. Never quite managed it. I also might have tried to bend spoons (which ages me!!).

Once tried to lift my wifes cooking off my plate with my mind and throw it under the table, did not work, I will try again tonight.

I've been trying to push a penny with my finger a la Ghost... no amount of grunting and gurning seems to help and the penny is staying stubbornly put. If I blow really hard it sometimes shifts a little but I'm not sure that's down to my supreme powers.

So it was you who left all those blocks of stone littering Salisbury Plain, was it? What's it supposed to be, then?

It was supposed to be the plans for the Coliseum, but I kind of lost the plot after a few of the workers got drunk and started playing dominoes with them...
