M. Knowles says:
I love to read books by first time novelists. Can we get together a list of new writers and their debut novels? If we can keep it to the last 5 years we can avoid the obvious "Carrie" by Stephen King.

Well - to be honest, during this time of plague (or of self-publishing, take your pick) your request sounds just a bit weird.

However - some of debuts at least worth trying (all trad published). I can't be bothered to check the years, so it may be 10 instead of 5, if that's okay.
The Thirteenth Tale
Random Acts Of Heroic Love [Edited to correct the link]
Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (Miss Peregrine's Peculiar Children)
The Tiger's Wife
Train to Trieste

This one may be even more than 10 years - 12, 13?..
The Earthquake Bird

None of those a masterpiece, all worth a try... maybe. I'm sure I've forgotten something, but that's for now

Here are some of my favourite debuts:
The Light Between Oceans
We, The Drowned (the Danish original is older than five years)
HHhH (in translation again, although the original just scrapes in)
The Dinner (this may not be a first novel, just the first translated)
The Spinning Heart
Of Bees and Mist
The Railway
Company of Liars

Here are a few I would add:

The Girl with Glass Feet
A Kind of Intimacy
The Panopticon
Mr Chartwell
The Tin Kin

I found a book by an author called Tom Martin. His first book was called 'pyramid' and his second 'kingdom'. He as not had a novel published though for at least for years though.
