I want to try and find some decent stories that revolve around dance like Fame or Dirty Dancing....I read a YA book about a Russian Ballet academy which was pretty good...can you help?

I've watched and loved Mao's Last Dancer.
Mao's Last Dancer Don't know how the book is. It's rather pricy for a Kindle book, too.
Read By Leaps and Bounds writing was good, but it revolved more around the relationships, putting the dancing in second place, which was a little disappointing.

I'll watch this thread as I'd love to read more books revolving around dancing.

Dance to the Piper (The O'Hurley's series) - Nora Roberts
Strictly Love - Julia Williams
The Ballroom Class - Lucy Dillon
Strictly Come Dancing Novels - these appear to be by different authors e.g. Strictly Come Dancing Novels: Chance - Alex Hines; Strictly Shimmer - Amanda Roberts

Streatfield's books are children's though. There's several childrens series including some by Darcy Bussel.

Thank you Stella, Both your suggestions sound good and I will get to Mao's Last Dancer after pay day!
LEP, I like your suggestions also - The Ballroom Class and Strictly Love remind me of the film Shall We Dance which I thought was quite a fun film.
And Dan, your suggestion actually sound quite intriguing too even if it is about 3 young children, that doesn't bother me so will give it a go too.

Thank you all!

Stella - I forgot to add that I just finished reading A Grand Passion which is about 3 generations of women ballet dancers. I thought it was good value for money...some of the characters really annoyed me but other ones I really enjoyed...see what you think!

Adele Geras has written a few books about ballet - I can think of Hester's Story, but you will find more if you search under her name. Also, not fiction, but I highly recommend A Dancer in Wartime: One girl's journey from the Blitz to Sadler's Wells, which was really a brilliant read.
