There are many good reads in the post-apocalyptic/dystopian genres. Consider these:
- Blood Red Road by Moira Young. Post apocalypse, a teen girl chases after the men who kidnapped her twin brother, and gets help from a charming scoundrel along the way.
- The Shore of Monsters by David Nix. With all men dead or ruined by a monster-bourne plague, women carry on through medical means. When teenager Sky is abandoned in monster-infested ruins, she gets help from an unexpected source - the first normal boy she has ever seen.
- The Declaration by Gemma Malley. With everyone taking eternal youth drugs, children are considered surplus and relegated to servitude. A teen girl and boy escape from their service to seek those who reject the drugs and the world it has created.
- Noughts and Crosses by Malorie Blackmon. In an alternate reality UK, a dark-skinned majority rules a white-skinned minority. When a dark-skinned girl and light-skinned boy fall in love, a disastrous romance results, with national implications.
