Is anyone watching The Killing on BBC4 (Saturday)? Its the best I've seen on TV for years. I'm on the edge of my seat each week and can't wait for the following weeks episodes. Only 3 more weeks to go I think. The last series that had me hooked like this was Twin Peaks!

Absolutely. Just thinking about Sarah in her amazing sweater(s) keeps me going through the week. :)

Really love this gripping tv drama, just wondering whether there are any more series featuring Sarah Lund as this was made back in 2007.

Just had a look on wiki and there was another series made in 2009 and another one is currently in production, here's hoping for a speedy showing on BBC4!

Fun to see this series commented outside of Denmark. I'm Danish and this series was all everybody talked about some years back. Anyway, if you don't mind watching foreign stuff, I just wanted to recommend Lars von Trier's The Kingdom (the Danish version - don't touch the Hollywood one). This is without a doubt the best every created for Danish television. I kind of feel about him like a do about David Lynch: I loved Twin Peaks, but his movies are not really my style. No matter what you might think or hear about Lars von Trier's movies, this series is brilliant. Give it a try :)

It's even better than Wallander, and that's saying something.

I am gripped - even to the point of re-watching episodes to see if I get any clues...I can't! Intelligent, brilliant acted and directed...getting murkier by the minute...dark, dark. It will be awful when it ends. I'll have the same feeling as when I finish a really good book - bereft.

I'm so glad others are watching - none of my friends are.
Robert, I feel exactly the same.

My feeling is that it's not worth starting this half way through. BBC4 seem to repeat most programmes so I hope this isn't an exception.

They have been repeating it mid week - its out on DVD soon too

better then Wallander???? don't think so. It is good but aren't we all getting tired of red hearings?

Loved Wallander too - both the Swedish and British - but The Killing is real edge of the seat stuff.

Well that was a shock last night - with Meyer dying - I felt quite sad. So it wasn't Vagn (or the other guy by the looks of it) - can't wait till next week (but will have to!). I've still got no idea - but Meyer looked quite shocked when he saw who was going to shoot him - think maybe Hartmann may still have something to do with it all.

Butterfly says:
It was fabulous stuff last night - I think the standard of acting makes even the best UK crime series look very feeble. I really have no clue about the killer, and agree about the look on Meyer's face as he was shot. He knew whoever it was. The thing I love about this series, and Wallender (Swedish version) is the unspoken stuff, the looks and expressions and the gaps when nothing is said. So much internal turmoil expressed without words. Sarah Lund and Nana's mother are both absolutely terrific at this.

Absolutely agree - on all counts!

Having seen the end the killer is ....... i do know but would not dream of spoling the best tv drama in years. The final four episodes ratchet the tension up even further than I thought possible.

Simply brilliant.

Absolutley love this. I thought Wallander was the best thing ever but this is edge of the seat stuff. Just when you think you know who it is, the plot knocks you back and takes another direction. Brilliant!
Would love to see more Scandanavian thrillers on TV. The producers of the Swedish Wallander series need to add English subtitles to ALL the series so that we see and enjoy them all.
Well done BBC4.

Definitely more Scandanavian thrillers please BBC4

All of it wonderful stuff! As I'm also half-Danish it's fantastic to get both story & language together. A niece & I are emailing each other in Danish for her class homework: here's what I wrote to her today, translated for your convenience...).

OK, two episodes to go... Is Meyer really dead? If so, we're crying buckets here. He was a good and faithful (though chain-smoking) sidekick to the autistic, gum-chewing Lund.
She, in her 2 smelly, hand-knitted "Sarah Lund" sweaters (a snip at only £250-ish each) should have set up a guard by his bed. (Her white sweater was shot in the arm...but suddenly & rather suspiciously was magically mended. By whom???)
So who dunnit NOW?
Not Rie
Not Pernille
Not Pernille's sister
Not Lund's nasty mum (though that would have been a rather neat twist!).
Nor any of the other hundred red herrings...
No, as of today, it's just glaringly obvious it has to be that evil ..... Hmmm, is nasty .... in cahoots with him?
We'll just have to wait to find out on Saturday. Patience y'al!!

All the way alot was made of the fact that Theis has bought a house - and that there was a problem with a cellar. Why didn't the police know, or search, the house before as Nanna had apparently been kept in a room with a concrete floor (cellar?) before being drowned. Didn't think it was Rie (she's ambitious but not capable of murder - I don't think??). Definitely not Pernille or her sister. Did think it could be Theis but he was at the beach that weekend. So many red herrings. Is Meyer dead? I'd like to think not but reckon he is. Could it be that tall cop (Brix?) - wasn't Meyer recovering and wasn't that cop at the hospital so he could have tampered with equipment? Who else knew about that warehouse? You had to feel sorry for Meyer - bossed around by Sarah Lund and his home life seemed a bit chaotic too. The suspense is killing me! Roll on Saturday, I'll record it then watch it later, uninterrupted, with a glass (or two) of wine. Saturdays just wont be the same after.
