W. Larkin says:
just found my parcel (big box with amazon.co.uk all over it) left under my porch, fullview of the main road..... flipping useless....

Mr. Taylor says:
Issues with Hermes here too. Parcel out for delivery at 5:32 on the 9th Dec. Still the same status today three days later.

Contacted Amazon repeatedly and they've been USELESS. No help at all.

Between HDNL/Yodel and Hermes, Amazon sure know how to pick awful couriers!

Shaun Walton says:
I've already complained to Amazon - my parcel was left on my parents driveway in front of the car without and knock on the door, doorbell ring or card!

Posted on 12 Dec 2011 10:16:25 GMT
I had a parcel left outside my front door, and I had another parcel delivered to the wrong address.

It may be worth noting that Hermes and Yodel are one and the same company - and both useless.

Ms J. Ball says:
i too have found amazon parcels thrown over my gates and or left in full view of road and i am on a main road! delivery needs seeing to before we go elsewhere, we cant all be wrong, oh and i've also had parcels left an arms reach through a gappy hedge on bins that can easily be reached by simply reaching through gap in hedge probably the way it was delivered.....

Pol says:
Its Not necessarily the company but down to the individual courier who is working on the area where you live. I am lucky that I have a very good courier who, if cannot deliver, always leaves a card for me to contact them directly to arrange redelivery

carol says:
Likewise....my recent delivery was thrown over the fence and into a puddle. Contact Amazon and all they could say was 'sorry for the inconvenience'. I requested that they do not use that courier for my parcels again.....and they told me they couldn't promise that. Maybe if enough of us request the same thing...... Never seem to have any problems with Amazon deliveries via Royal Mail.

psn: tqfan says:
our delivery man works for hermes and he always needs a signature, so nothing ever gets left on the doorstep. think it might be lazy delivery men and not the actual company at fault. mind you, if we know a parcel is coming, we make sure someone is in the house, so we don't have these problems... don't order stuff if you can't be in to receive it, pop down the high street!!

Gary Savage says:
No Yodel are rubbish, I pre-ordered an item 6 months before it came out then moved flat totally forgetting about the order. It wasn't until I checked the amazon website that I realised they'd tried to deliver it to my old flat. I contacted them and I had to go through a complex avenue of getting my parcel delivered to me, I did it, filled in the paperwork sent it off to amazon contacted Yodel they confirmed they had recieved the new documentation and would put the package on the delivery van the next day. So I wait around all day and it gets to about 4pm and I check the amazon website and the tracking info says failed delivery again.....I pick up the phone and ring Yodel and they confirmed the package had been sent to my old address again, in the end the easiest way was to get them to send the package back to amazon and then re-ordering it....they are a joke

Got to agree with tqfan here. Our local driver seems to be fine, never had a problem and we generally try to have it delivered on Saturdays or to a parent's house. If we're out, they put it behind our porch door that isn't all glass. (Used to put this in delivery instructions but they must have it on record now because that's where every delivery gets put.)

My parcel was despatched using Hermes this morning (Tuesday 13th Dec.) at 00:32 hrs and has just been delivered - 9 hours 10 minutes later. I am not sure where it was despatched from (but it notes non-deliveries should be returned to Dunfermline) but it was delivered to the Portsmouth area; surely by anyones measure that is a great delivery service. It may be a one-off but normally I still get a quite reasonable/very satisfactory delivery service from all of the Amazon delivery companies - probably with the exception of Royal Mail, by far the slowest.

My parcel delivered by Hermes was just chucked over my side fence!! Lucky there was nothing fragile in it. I was in all day and nobody knocked or rang the bell! Atrocious!! and I've had the same experience from HDN and Yodel!! No wonder they keep changing their name, their reputation is garbage.

Personally, I think that the people who post here and do not sent their complaints to Watchdog are missing a trick.

As much as people would like to think that Amazon will take notice of this, the chances are it will just be a lowly Administration Assistant who reads through this and will be too low down in the company chain to draw attention to this. Watchdog, on the other hand, WILL test things out and then go straight to the HEAD OFFICE about this.

Please, people, if you want this to get sorted then you need to use ALL the available means at your disposal, and not just constantly gripe on here, where your griping is only likely to be heard by those with the same complaint.

Hermes and Yodel are not the same company. Yodel are rebranded from DHL; Hermes use self employed drivers; most Hermes drivers have good relationships with their customers because they effectively franchise an area.
Of course there are always going to be bad apples in any barrel :)

We have a fantastic service from Hermes - not sooner has an item been ordered than it is delivered very efficiently by our Hermes lady. Never had a problem.

Had a parcel delivered with Hermes last Friday, they left no card and the tracking said it had been delivered. Where was my parcel though? Purely by chance I found it outside in my wheely bin!! Absolutely useless.

P. Bailey says:
OMG! didn't realise Amazon used Hermes. That's awful. I am sure they are on a determined quest to kill off internet buying. They couldn't possibly be that useless if it wasn't deliberate! I have had huge trouble with Hermes, with a Debenhams order. Apparently they are unable to "access" the national logistics warehouse where I work and are also unable to phone my mobile for assistance. I have now boycotted debenhams. I hope I don't have to boycott amazon.

P. Bailey says:
The courier company is only as good as the individual courier. And Amazon is only as good as its courier.

Posted on 25 Jan 2012 18:10:23 GMT
Been landed with Hermes, the parcel as now been out for delivery for 2 days and counting. Amazon say I have to wait another week before they will look into it. I have noticed a few online shops now let you specify the courier you want a parcel to be sent by. Until amazon stop using the courier lottery am not willing to take the chance of them giving me Herpes again!!

No, they aren't. totally pointless reply, ill-informed and inaccurate. Well Done Mrs Julianna M.M. Davies.

Our courier always manages to deliver to us, with no problem and no issues. Maybe its because we arrange to have things delivered, and actually think about making sure we're around to receive the delivery? Or that we, if we have to be out, get a neighbour to accept the goods for us.
