I agree also. Bought an item which was sent next day delivery, stayed in all day waiting... nothing. So logged in to track the item and it said 'item delayed due to being sent to the wrong distribution centre'. Took 4 days to arrive. Worst delivery service there is available.

Mr M Bird says:
To my knowledge I have had only one encounter with HDNL and it wasnt good, so in percentage terms they're off to a bad start.

My problem with them is how inflexible they are in the face of massive flexibility in other competitors. The local depo is an 80minutes round trip and closes at 5.30pm, roughly when the majority of people finish work so picking up from the depo requires time off work. The redelivery options, although intuitive and online, dont offer any other option than to have it delivered again at your leisure but not weekends. So further time off work just sitting about waiting for a parcel.

Parcelforce and others will drop it at a neighbour or the local post office with a note, which frankly is all thats needed. HDNL seem to be playing by a different rule book to its competitors and it will ultimately see them fail.

Amazon should drop them, simple.

I have had items left on doorstep in view of passersby and exposed to the element previously by HDNL. If only I could be so lucky this time. There is no trace of my long awaited order and no information being given regards its expected delivery time 7 days after despatch. Please go back to leaving soggy parcels please at least it can dry in front of the fire!!

Agreed. They currently have two items of mine that they refuse to deliver to my workplace (4 minutes away) and they insist that I go and collect them as they won't deliver at the weekends. I don't drive, and there are no buses that go anywhere near their depot, which is in the middle of nowhere. Oh, and they won't give me a ring to let me know that they're on their way, which would enable me to run home from work and be there to accept the delivery. Inflexible isn't the word.

So what do I do? Oh yeah...I'm going to have to take a day off work, or pay someone to give me a lift. What a shame that I saved a fiver by buying the item from Amazon, and it's going to cost me a day's wages to actually receive it. Useless.

I totally agree regarding HDNL. I've cancelled orders before now upon receiving the confirmation that they will be sent by HDNL. So had to get through to, arrange delivery dates etc. Sadly it seems despite the strength of feeling about this issue and the fact that many customers have complained repeatedly, Amazon are determined to continue using them. They must be cheap as chips. Well, you get what you pay for Amazon!!

HDN are awful - they leave electronic items on the patio in the rain - unbelievable

I've only had this delivery company once. They sucked. They took three weeks to get it to my house, during which I was out. They left a card that had a phone number to an automatic line and a website. Tried to re-order delivery through both systems, (the phone line being an expensive 0800 number). I never got my packages and never got a reply from them.

Amazon, seriously, end your contrat with these idiots.

any missing deliverys from HDNL, contact amazon, its free, and they can re-arrange delivery. you are amazons customer they can have the grief to sort out their supplier and only then will things improve

Id like to add - not sure if has been mentioned before but there are far too many for me to read thru to check this little detail:

I am aware of at least one courier service that are required to take a photograph of the door /location for the delivery as proof that they have made an attempt to deliver a parcel.
Maybe amazon might want to think things through a little

Im sure we'd all prefer a better delivery service.. this current one is putting sooo many people off amazon!

HDNL is rubbish. Always has been. But for some unfathomable reason Amazon seem to love to send their products throught them. I have placed a number of products in my wishlist, but am scared to purchase them as even though I know they will be dispatched on time, I just don't want Amazon to send it through HDNL. I have a feeling HDNL secured their deal with Amazon by offering cheaper delivery rates when compared to better companies. What else can it be?? Somehow I always end up with a card at my door saying that they had dropped by with the goods and I wasn't there, even though I am at home! Have a feeeling some dude just drives around and drops off the cards, expecting the customers to come pick up the stuff ordered. And dont get me started on that! Aaaargh!

sign the petition to get rid of them.
http://www.petitiononline.com/ashndl/petition.html

Their job is to deliver parcels and so far they have failed every time.
Anyone else this incompitent would be fired.

THey supposedly collected my package from Amazon last friday and delivery should have been on the wednesday. HDNL say they have no reference of my tracking number that amazon have given me! looks like someone has nicked my package. Amazon say they need a week to investigate. They should have sent a replacement!

ive had a bad experience with HDNL, last December the driver left a laptop id bought as a christmas present on the door step and someone walked off with it!!! i live on a main road! it was in full sight of everyone, brain dead! he didnt even leave a delivery note it was only because i checked the tracker to see where it was that i noticed it had delivered! when i phoned HDNL they told me I'd signed for it!

in your own words you "frequently buy elsewhere just to avoid them" yet take the time to visit amazon to comment on the topic. Odd thing to do.

In reply to an earlier post on 9 Dec 2010 22:00:05 GMT
i quote your post "It actually puts me off buying from Amazon - until they change the courier I won't buy from them."

If your not going to buy from amazon then why on earth are you sitting on their discussion board moaning about them???

In reply to an earlier post on 9 Dec 2010 22:07:46 GMT
seriously do you people read what you write?

quote "the phone line being an expensive 0800 number"

0800 numbers are free from a land line.

I hate having lots of different deliveries.
I know what time the post arrives - but ordering off web you could have two or three different vans turn up -and you virtually have to be waiting at the door for them.
i'd prefer all small enough packages ot delivered by the post van - then its just one delivery a day and finished.
Coming up to Christmas I never know when anything is coming.

Mr Kiplin, obviously unlike myself and hundreds of other loyal Amazon customer's you have never been
experienced the unbelievably poor, frustrating and dissapointing service from HDNL. I have had excellent service
from Amazon over many years as I have from all the other courier companies that they use. My problem is only with this poorly managed
and incompetent company on every occasion where they were the delivering courier. As for HDNL's tel number the only one I was supplied with was premium rate, however if other Customer's do have an 0800 number it is worth noting that these are expensive to call from a mobile as loke myself many customers are not at home to call from a landline, they are out at work to pay for their purchases. You may be interested to know that my last encounter with this company (order completed 3rd December) involved me taking paid leave off work on 3 occasions and after 21 phone calls the item is still sitting in a warehouse somewhere!! So please understand why some Customer's may be upset with this company.

Apologies, NOT ordered 3rd December "3rd NOVEMBER"
