@McAfee, seriously, you doubt evolution of which there is ample evidence for? Perhaps you should read a few basic science books and discover what evolution really means and how it shaped man and all life on this planet.

Miss McAfee - my existence is proof of biology and evolution. I'm unsure why it would have anything to do with "God", perhaps you could explain?

Bruno Hslaw says:
That numpty thinks because we evolved from apes all apes should be human. She does not get that different species of apes exist like Man. Chimps baboons etc. EVEN when she saw them in the zoo. She also says that the viking word evolving into the modern word fool were used by ancient jews when writing the bible. Abandon all hope of getting any sensible reply.

Miss McAffee I am overjoyed to see someone else who has the courage to stand up for their religious beliefs.

Evolution has NEVER been proven and can NEVER be proven but there are always people who believe it to be true. They will all learn the truth in the end I pray they reach a better understanding of God and his Love for them before that day.

Antony Flew, a renowned philosopher and perhaps the best known atheist in the English-speaking world has, at the age of 80, come to believe in God. He was asked in 2004 if recent work on the origin of life pointed to the activity of a creative Intelligence and he responded: "Yes, I now think it does ... almost entirely because of the DNA investigations. What I think the DNA material has done is that it has shown, by the al¬most unbelievable complexity of the arrangements which are needed to produce (life), that intelligence must have been involved in getting these extraordinarily diverse elements to work together. It's the enormous complexity of the number of elements and the enormous subtlety of the ways they work together. The meeting of these two parts at the right time by chance is simply minute. It is all a matter of the enormous complexity by which the results were achieved, which looked to me like the work of intelligence."
He continues: "I now believe that the universe was brought into existence by an infinite Intelligence. I believe that this universe's intricate laws manifest what scientists have called the Mind of God. I believe that life and reproduction originate in a divine Source. Why do I believe this, given that I expounded and defended atheism for more than a half century? The short answer is this: this is the world picture, as I see it, that has emerged from modern science. Science spotlights three dimensions of nature that point to God. The first is the fact that nature obeys laws. The second is the dimension of life, of intelligently organized and purpose-driven beings, which arose from matter. The third is the very existence of nature. But it is not science alone that has guided me. I have also been helped by a renewed study of the classical philosophical arguments.

I do believe that Brian is unfortunately the average garden variety troll who is only here to cause offence and impart no actual wisdom, it would be best to ignore him.

"Evolution has NEVER been proven"

Actually we have plenty of evidence for evolution, it's all around us, all you have to do is open your eyes.

Chris says:
It's not entirely surprising that an 80 year old should suddenly find God..that's just hedging your bets ;)

Evolution has been scientifically proven, subjected to scrutiny & peer review and is widely accepted by both believers and non-believers.

Through the ages and in different cultures Gods have been created by people in power to control the masses. Conditioned to fear displeasing these almighty beings whether they are boulders of stone, flying horses, or human images, the poorly educated have been and still are being kept in their God fearing subservient positions. As we become better educated and discover more about the vastness, age and mysteries of our universe it becomes proportionally harder to believe in symbolic gods of any form. If a God is what you need then may your God go with you.

As i stated Evolution has not been 100% proven, it is certainly NOT accepted by true believers.
The only evolution that occurs is within the animal species it does not and has not occurred within humanity.

I do not need a God i simply need God, there is only one true God.

Sleep well everyone God Bless

Amanda, humans are animals. So your comment that evolution occurs only within animal species by definition includes humans. Your denial is consistent though with how the church has ignored the views of scientists throughout history, it's worth remembering that scientists spend their time working from evidence and recording facts.

Science came out of religion and agree on many things except the origins of life. Atheist need a belief that excludes god. Some evidence for evolution has even been fabricated to prop it up.

Put it this way

Morality = Doing what's right regardless of what you're told.
Religion = Doing what you're told regardless of what's right.

GS says:
"Science came out of religion", no, science came from people questioning things not blindly following. Atheists don't need any belief system to follow without thought or question as to its validity. As to denying evolution, that's just laughable, we know it happened, we know it's still happening, you may as well try to deny gravity.

@ Mrs. Amanda Roxburgh... To state evolution "does not and has not occurred within humanity" shows a lack of knowledge and understanding on the subject which explains a great deal to me about your stance regarding religious belief. Various cultures have worshiped many Gods of differing status levels at the same time. Your comment " I do not need a God I simply need God, there is only one true God." has the same meaning as 'a God' or 'God' as both are singular. Why should your Christian God be anymore real than the multitude of Gods that others have believed in as earnestly as you believe in yours? The Christian God has only been worshiped for a few centuries which is a relatively short time on earth compared with humans who have inhabited for millions of years. If earth was the bible our existence would fit into the last sentence in the bible. In the realm of all things we are that insignificant. Evolution and the Charles Darwin theory has much more credible substance and that is only scratching the surface. Theories and faiths abound but that is all they are as all the facts are not known. Creating an unquestionable God as an answer to all things suppresses our advancement in knowledge and the intelligent evolution of humans.

"no, science came from people questioning things not blindly following" - no, science is clearly rooted in religion, people like newton knew they could question things because expected their to be laws of science because they believed in the law giver.

"Atheists don't need any belief system" - don't you believe evolution?

"As to denying evolution, that's just laughable" - I agree that would be laughable, but whats been observed about evolution falls short of what is being accredited to it.

Daniel says:
My first impression when I read all posts is that you do not read the Bible and you have no idea about the history. Unfortunately for all of us the Bible is pure fact and only truth about our live and maybe this is better to believe this is, like a lot of people say a fiction, but I experienced completely something else that when I try to live according to this 'modern' World I lost my life, my family but when I was nearly death I call for God help and he was faithful the word of God which is the Bible, with help of presbyter (priest) to understand helped me to see first of all myself, how I am and cure everything that I destroyed by following this 'modern' World.
The live of our Lord Jesus Christ is fact, he died on the cross because of love to us and to save us. Who can save himself? If you are honest with yourself you will see that you can only produce sin on your own.
But God love you exactly as you are this is what I learned from Bible but he will respect your free will and you can reject him and his love but you will suffer.
If you read the Gospel you will see God call every one not only Jews.
Don't listen to those who serve the evil read first yourself, search for the answers if you have doubts.
Peace be with you all. Jesus I thrust in You.

Seriously the church held back science for centuries, just look at Galileo

I don't need to believe in evolution, it's happening all around us.

Bruno Hslaw says:
If man has not evolved at all or changed, how come most of us have Neanderthal DNA from cross breeding with that species? just asking. Plus we have physical evidence of several other early human ancestors like home erectus etc. That show we have and are in a state of evolution. Things like the species changing gradually from being right handed to left handed also shows evolution in action. We have very much got evidence of evolution. Go google it you numpties. Only the see no sense, hear no sense brigade, fail to want to see what is placed in front of them. God is a social control ploy, designed to keep the daft in their place. Glad to see we still have daft folk around, they have not yet evolved enough :)

Bruno Hslaw says:
Actually he did not die for you, as you say as he got up and walked away after (in the book and the film ) you remember that bit. (bit of a cheat that telling us he would die for us and then not doing it.) Plus if he died to cleans our sins how come we have all that shiite about free will and our choice, yet another contradiction. How is it unborn babies die, what crimes did they do in the womb?? BS is still BS even if you try to talk like Shakespeare.. Yet more contradictions in this book of contradictions.

J. E. Lamdin says:
The search for truth goes on.... But the final judgement of man to decide his final destiny is not in his own hands. Those who believe that Jesus was a truthful man believe that the Bible has the answers to some of life's questions and are content to leave their final resting place in his hands.
From a content and peaceful man.

Google delusional. You will see your own picture next to the word. Only a mug would follow 1/4 of the bible that was voted into use by committee, as being the word of god. If it was the word of god why did the Romans take a generation to edit it down to 25% of its original content? Simple this was done by man not any god.
